What Zion did the other night was worse than.......

Baron Davis refusing to play. Worst than Chris Paul, and Anthony Davis forcing a trade. Zion on a national televised game embarrassed the Pelican franchise, and the city of New Orleans. He sh-- on his teammates, and the fans of New Orleans. The fans of New Orleans have been remarkably patient for Zion to grow up, and earn his huge salary. No other professional athlete in our cities history has been treated with more patience. I have been to ninety percent of Pelican games since Zion was drafted, and I have not heard one boo from the fans. It's time to run him out of town !!!! This very good Pelican team will be better off making a smart trade for Zion if they can find a team to trade with. I've made every excuse to defend Zion Williamson, but not any more. I will boo his arse off until they trade him. He must go, because of all the reasons I mentioned above. His teammates, and the fans have had enough of his bullish--.

Here is the other problem. This team is soft, with or without zion. If someone starts to punk them , no one imposes their will on anyone. Rather, they cower and let the other team continue to be physical. Until, this changes we are a joke of a franchise.

He didn’t plan or intend what happened, he arrived there after a long series of poor choices. You guys are taking this way too personally. He’s got an eating problem, so does over half of America.
Someone in his life besides the team needs to convince him to seek medical help. Everything you read about the new weight loss drugs like Ozempic makes them seem pretty effective. I even saw an article this past week that it’s helped some people with alcoholism.

Exactly why are people sitting here acting like he did this to spite the Pelicans

You’re right, we should have more sympathy for him. He’s been told this for 5 years and has been rewarded in doing nothing with 50 mil a year.
Poor Zion. He’s had it hard and I totally can understand why he’s banging porn stars and eating twinkies all day. Half of America has the same problem and gets paid 50 mil a year to be in shape. It’s really hard to be in shape for only 50 million.

I’m not saying be sympathetic to Zion, I’m saying don’t be so blinded by your emotions that you don’t properly diagnose the problem. Zion has a weight problem and there’s a new magic weight loss drug that seems tailor made for this situation if someone can convince him to use it.

Zion did not all of a sudden walk around the court in the biggest game of the year because his weight magically made it happen. Please tell me our fan base is not that naive.
YES, Zion has a weight problem and yes he is out of shape. That is not what happened here.

Your suggestion of such medicine should make the thread be deleted by admin

There’s another medicine that every other player in the NBA takes. It’s been around for ages, but has been forgotten it seems. It’s called “hard work” and “doing your job”.

These are the takes I’m talking about. You guys are ready to throw the baby out with the bath water because in your mind there’s only one way to solve this problem, and if he can’t do it that way you don’t want him.
There is now another way that is literally brand new. No it won’t give him the drive of a champion, but it might be able to give us the fabled Duke Zion. You need to find a way to go down that path before you trade him for pennies on the dollar to Pat Riley who will figure out how to get Duke Zion.
Be mad and disappointed in Zion all you want. That’s warranted. But if there’s a path to Duke Zion they haven’t gone down yet, they need to explore that before they explore trades.

Just taking this Ozempic pill you keep talking about won't do the trick if he doesn't change eating and work habits.
So no, I do not agree there's another way that bypasses hard work. Hard work is mandatory to turn this around.

Intended or not, Zion's conditioning is, literally, a weight around the Pelicans' neck. For sure it's a team game, and you can't have a player play extended minutes who's conditioning compromises the team. What do you tell Herb when he's busting his azz but give up uncontested rim runs while the player who is supposed to be guarding him has barely made it past half-court?
I'm still in on Zion, unless he asks out of Nola. Zion really is one of one when he is in professional condition, but right now he is a long....... way away from that. Pels have to quit coddling and avoiding the issue. A coach's power is the distribution of minutes, and until Zion can sustain consistent two-way effort his minutes should limited.

But that’s exactly what it does, it changes your eating habits by messing with the hormones that say you’re full. It also slows the emptying of the stomach so you feel full.
quote:
There have been several anti-obesity medications that help suppress appetite and achieve weight loss. But semaglutide performs on a new level
An early study of 2,000 obese adults compared people using semaglutide plus a diet and exercise program with people who made the same lifestyle changes without semaglutide. After 68 weeks, half of the participants using semaglutide lost 15% of their body weight, and nearly a third lost 20%. Participants who incorporated only lifestyle changes lost about 2.4% of their weight.
LINK .
Losing 15% of 325 would be about 275. If this didn’t exist I could understand the stance of “he’s not going to change” This can create that change so they should explore it.

Again, Zion doesn't work hard
Nothing changes if Zion takes this pill and continues to not work hard.

There may be some therapies available, but the issue is weight as a by-product of conditioning. Weight loss in and of itself is not preparation for Professional NBA competition. You see this in all sports, notably boxing, where boxers cut weight and then perform as a shell of themselves during competition.
Nelson might have had it right all along. You play Zion in 'Bursts' and gradually ramp up his minutes as his conditioning improves. Minutes, like most NBA players, is the incentive. That will settle the issue once and for all. Either Zion acquiences and understands what's best for the team and himself or he gets disgruntled and you know what happens next.

My issue with the weight thing is even if we are talking conditioning, he didn’t come out in the first or second half playing hard. He didn’t come back after sitting for a stretch and played hard. In terms of the other night it wouldn’t have mattered if he was 220 lbs, it was an effort problem.

Jumped the shark is an excellent way to put it.

For sure, Zion has five years worth of bad habits and he's having problems shaking them. He's fine against lesser competition, but at high competitive levels, he has no answer right now. Without any changes, he'll continue to dominate mid-tier teams and below. All the shite everyone says about shooting from range, adding counter-moves, boxing out to rebound, and playing transition defense isn't crazy talk. The arrogance (Zion and the team) to think that you can half-azz it playing against elite competition is mind-numbing.
