Is it yet became public on how much he is making?? They probably paying him pennies.. Like another guy said on here that can't see the organization paying a top notch coach to come 8n here. The only way you're gonna get one is she opens that pocketbook.

You are never going to be happy with this organization. It is not run that way and shouldn't be. It is run as a business and scaled to size. You want them to overspend and waste money.

As a leader, say as the GM, this season they spent over 170M on payroll. They didn't have to spend that much. They could have spent well under 150M. We just had a horrible season where most of the talent was hurt or just checked out. How would you justify that wasted spending? Maybe you say it's not that much money or doesn't matter. But that's not how businesses, especially small market teams operate. When you waste 20M+, then have over 100M in contracts miss the vast majority of the year, it is a horrible miscalculation.

Everything points to a rebuild. Zion needs to go. Once that happens, it'll begin a firesale. 90% of the team will be flipped. Why will it matter who the coach is for the next year or two?

I'm just thinking logically. We are who we are. People are trying to turn us into the Lakers and Knicks, bloated payrolls and flushing cash making desperate coaching hires. We need to be following comparable models, like OKC. They don't pay the tax, they make smart hires, their cap sheet is clean. But people are bitching about trading a spoiled Superstar that never plays and want to spend 10M+ a year on a coach, so that we can do what? Make the playin?

I'm mainly letting people vent, but it's embarrassing how little people are considering the future. I want a good team for the next decade. I don't care about just making a run next year. There is a process and people just want to take short cuts..

If message boards had control of any franchise, hilarity would ensue.

The details of the extension signed last year were not made public. We know it was multi-year and we know he was making a little over $1m a year on his initial contract. Reports say he is the lowest paid (non interim) coach in the league and we know Billups made $2m.

For context:

Gentry had one year at $5m left when we cut him

Van Gundy had 3 yrs $15m owed when he got bought out. But he might have shaved some $$ off just to be able to go back to TV. His wife was obviously unhappy and he was dealing with personal stuff.

Perhaps the Willie thing is not so much the buyout - as it is the $40/5yr contracts that qualified coaches are requesting in 2025. If this team is being packaged for sale, not committing long term to a coach might be more appealing to potential buyers.
