Alright, the Spencer Rattler practice highlights on X are getting me a little excited.

IMO he came into this team even with where Heaner is this year. I believe Rattler has a much bigger upside and is pretty even on the floor with Jake.

As long as expectations are tempered and people don't go thinking he's got to prove he can replace Carr any time soon and understand if he turns into a solid backup for Car it's a giant win for a 5th round pick. Anything more than that will be icing on the cake.

I would hope an NFL rostered QB can hit a wide open 45 yard post route.

But seriously though, Rattler probably already has better pocket presence than 33 year old Carr. We shall see.
Edit: this is a dig at Carr. Nothing more

our best bet is if Rattler can become a russel wilson type qb in that could be ready to take over for Carr in 2 years. His time ain't now but we want all of our guys to be the best they can.

I seriously doubt it, and that is not a compliment to Carr either.

The amount of rookies that come in and have that day 1 are extremely small

IDK about that.

But from the look of things Rattler has better midrange accuracy than Carr. Developing NFL pocket presence will come with game time experience and working with his OL.

Wilson was the game 1 starter as a rookie...even though Seattle had signed Matt Flynn to (presumably) be the starter. I'm not saying Rattler will take the same path, but I do hope the staff gives him some significant work in camp/preseason to get a sense of what he has. Carr is the starter. But I don't know how many people truly believe he is the Saints long-term option at least beyond this season.

I forgot why Rattler left OU. Was it because of competition from Caleb Williams who eventually transferred to USC?

With this offensive line- especially with how they’re being dominated in camp- not sure if Carr will last 2 years. In that sense you wonder if a more athletic, younger stronger arm qb may be better for this oline. I just think Rattler will get his chance due to circumstances sooner than later.

I'm sure Carr will get injured by week 5 and Ratler might get some play time. Would be a reason to watch the games, it was really hard to watch that crap last season.

Based off of what exactly?? How did you come to this conclusion

QB threads are so weird to me. It’s like yall just throw cliches out there without knowing what yall are talking about just because you heard it said about someone else…

How does he have ‘bigger upside’?

Who’s got the better arm?
Who knows the offense better?
Who will perform better once the lights are on and the game matters?
Who commands more respect from their teammates?

All of this goes into what you said, yet I doubt you have any of those answers

It's low IQ people who hate the Saints deep down and want everyone fired. They aren't reading the reports out of camp that Rattler looks like a rookie and is the third best option on the team.

There have been reports stating the opposite. I’m not saying Rattler deserves to start but its also not true that there are ONLY reports saying Rattler looks like a third option. No one deep down hates the Saints- Rattler is also a Saint.

Let's wait until he shows he can pass the John Fourcade test before getting excited about Rattler potential.

Most do. Because most reasonable posters can easily see that he played well (top ten stats), finished strong, and that there isnt a better option than Carr sitting around out there.
