Anyone remember all the craziness with Rita Benson in the early 2000s?

I remember this board had some interesting details but it’s been 20+ years now. A buddy of mine and I were reminiscing on those funny stories. I remember rumors of her drug addiction, sleeping with Saints staffers and insulting Tom Benson publicly. Anyone remember any of the crazy stories that they can share?

Rumors that she was a lesbian dating Helena Moreno and that she went through assistants on a weekly basis bc she was a royal biatch.

I worked at Langenstein’s in Old Metairie for a few years in high school part time and she would come in there quite frequently.
She’d seldom look at any employees and if she did you’d have thought she was looking at cancer itself. One word answers. Could just tell she was a spoiled, condescending and haughty bitch.

My wife and I saw her at Sucre once. It was minutes before they closed when we saw a car stop on Magazine and a driver get out to let a well dressed couple out. When they came in it was some scraggly looking dude escorting who we realized was Rita. She looked tweeked out, like she had been up for a few days, and unbathed for the same amount of time. She proceeded to buy $1000 worth of chocolate all the while her driver was parked in the middle of magazine, holding up traffic. She paid, left, and was out of my life forever. That was during the 2009 run. What a year.

She was involved with Helena Moreno, she loved cocaine, she did go through assistants like crazy, no one at the facility wanted to deal with her, and Sidney was always with them.

She wanted an real MB motorcar on the porch of the penthouse suite of the Dominion Tower.

This is a true story. She actually wanted an elevator shaft installed so she could park on the ground floor and then have it lifted to the Penthouse. I was working for the construction company who did a lot of Benson's projects.
Let's just say the elevator option was cost prohibitive.

Yea heard she loved drugs and playing rug doctor to Helen Moreno. She must have been a total frick up. Tom wanted her to take over everything and she just wanted to party and not do anything.

i think this saga would make a great 30 for 30. Rita would have been the most powerful woman in sports, if she had an ounce of discipline. Rita absolutely dug her own grave, but there was serious manipulation on the Gayle side as well.
