And he's dumb to begin with.

This can go two ways.

He's a bust at Guard and we are drafting a guard first round next year.

Or it's going to be the most miraculous assembling of a good O-Line imaginable.

I think Banks will be great at LT.

McCoy is a great Center when healthy.

Ruiz is ok when McCoy is on the field to help him He sucks when McCoy is hurt which happens to often.

Fuaga has been a great pick and he gets to go back to his natural side.

I'm hopeful and will support CKM rebuilding this team how he sees fit.

the thing that sucks is that It seems like they pulled the plug a little too soon on him at RT... while he wasn't exactly a world beater at RT, he made some nice strides and was actually looking like a capable NFL player there...

but this pick all but shuts the door on the Penning project at T

He’ll be excellent at guard and it will further solidify the stupidity of the prior regime

Really? At 6’7” most DTs will get under Penning quick. There’s a reason he hasn’t been moved.

He is just too slow to play tackle. Its almost as if he waits a beat after the ball is snapped to move. Why nobody saw that is the most concerning thing. I think G is his natural position.

Penning is more athletic than most tackles in the league. He’s not slow, he doesn’t lack quickness, he honestly doesn’t lack any trait. He’s just not good.

Penning is not as good as either of the other 2 tackles we have now. A bust? Maybe not yet, but not anything special.

more concerning, to me, is that same people that SHOULD have seen that, are still making the picks for us, and we just used ANOTHER 1st rounder on an OT...

look, we hit on Fuaga, I'll give them credit for that... but 2 of the last 3 OL we've taken haven't panned out...

just feel like there were other areas that need more help than we do at OT

I would say hes athletic for his size when he gets moving. We had success last year running towards the edge when we would pull him and put him on the move going to the second level.

His biggest issue at Tackle was he was consistently late with his punch against pass rushers and lose leverage.

Like you said it's concerning they could never get that coached out of him.

I think he will be ok at guard although he will be a huge Guard. Maybe he can just lay on smaller d-lineman, lol.

But he won't be going against edge rushers on passing downs at Guard which is a good thing. Maybe the playbook will feature pulls and get him to the second level a lot where he will maul and knock people around for huge holes.

Penning was serviceable at RT last year, his issue in pass protection is that he sets too deep on the edge and allows pass rushers to gain momentum. He would not have to worry about that at guard, with his natural pay strength, Penning may better a natural playing inside.

Interesting.

For that matter Fuaga can play any position. He would be a great guard, lol.
