Man someone's going to have a good night at their expense.

You're getting some good numbers on all those guys really.

Sounds about right for the Saints

Fwiw, Mel Kiper's final Big Board dropped today. He has Williams ranked as the 24th best player in this draft

quote:

24. Mykel Williams, OLB, Georgia
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 260

2024 stats over 12 games: 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5 run stops, 5 sacks, 21 pressures, 2 forced fumbles

Williams is extremely explosive and wins as a pass rusher with speed-to-power. His bend off the edge is outstanding. The tools are all there, and his upside is immense. Scouts were hoping to see more consistency in his game and some improvement in his sack totals -- he had 4.5 in back-to-back seasons while playing in Georgia's deep front seven -- but he totaled only five in 2024 (two against Texas in the SEC championship game). Part of the reason was Williams missed time early in the 2024 season with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain.

Daniel Jeremiah's final top 150 players dropped yesterday and he has Williams ranked as the #22 player

quote:

Rank 22 Mykel Williams
Georgia · Edge · Junior

Williams is a talented edge rusher with rare physical traits. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in the opening game against Clemson and played through pain for the remainder of the season. When healthy, he has a dynamic get-off and can win early from the edge or when he’s reduced inside. He has extremely long arms and blockers struggle to get to his chest. He has a nasty shake/bull move and he also flashes a violent swipe move to generate pressure. Against the run, he still found a way to set a physical edge even when he couldn’t put much weight on one leg because of his injury. His effort never wavered. Overall, the 2024 tape isn’t a fair representation of Williams’ talent. He has game-changing tools when healthy and locked in.

Williams is a fine if unexciting pick. But if they pass on Warren or Graham for him, it’ll be the first big melt for me over a draft pick since Kenny Vaccaro

Honestly, the Saints need some guys like McMillan and/or Membou to go in front of them.

Peter Shrager says he is mocking Mason Graham to the saints. That would be a hell of a pick if he falls.

Vaccaro was my last true melt too! I was pissed when we took him over Jarvis Jones.

This draft reminds me of that one. Not many QBs (Geno Smith was the first QB taken and that was the 2nd round) and a lot of OL and defensive players.

As to the OP, I wouldn’t hate the Williams pick. Don’t know what you do with him, Young and Granderson though. I still want Walker unless Graham is available.

Mykel Williams is probably best case scenario for us at 9. Campbell and Graham won’t be there. No one wants Sanders. Tyler Warren is a really good TE. Jeanty is a good RB. Neither are worth a top 10 pick to us. Also like Mike Green and James Pierce Jr

If Walker and Graham are gone I’d love this pick. Other than Carter and maybe even more than Carter, Mykel has the highest ceiling of any pass rusher. His frame is insane. Leader and you cannot run on him. Needs some pass rush development but if you build a DE he is exactly what you want it to look like.

Bruce Feldman said he talked to teams that look at Williams as a future superstar with #1 overall pick type potential.
