Wait for the day when you dumb shits realize that forcing racism on stupid stuff makes people ignore the actual cases of prejudice.

blue gum
A person of African American Heritage who has a purplish hew to the dental margins.
Usually refers to a lazy black American who refuses to work.
A person of african american decent. Also see n**ger
A synonym of African American, this word describes the bluish color typical of a black mouth.
An African or African American with exceptionally dark skin.
Any black person whose gums are blue in color. Used to differentiate from the more common pink-gummed black person.
A black person of the darker variety such that the gums are of a blue color.
This is the stupidest thing I’ve seen in my life.
I’m 33, from southern Louisiana, served 14 years in the military, lived in 5 states and I have never in my life heard that term used at all much less toward a black person. I feel like people are just making shite up now.

I haven't heard the term in probably 20 years, and even then it was just someone mentioning that the term was a slur, but it has definitely been used as a slur.

I've already said I didn't think the OP was being racist. Don't lump me in with Lester.

58 year old life-long New Orleanian here, and I'll admit that I haven't heard that slur in quite a while. And for the record, I'm of the opinion that the original poster more stumbled into this rather than attempted to cleverly dog whistle a racial slur. But that being said...it was definitely one of the more reprehensible slurs when it was in use, as it was used to try to single out not just black people in general but specifically those who didn't show enough "white" features. A real throwback slur all the way back to slavery to delineate "house" servants from "field" hands. So have a little understanding of how this could be a trigger for those who ARE familiar with it.
