Per Schefter, Saints have made calls about moving up in the second round.

Says he still hears they are not interested in Sanders but more so Dart. I am not sure that trading up in the 2nd helps a lot thought. If they want a QB, the logic says get to the late 1st from the 2nd.

The picture of sanders here is kinda funny. Highly doubtful he makes it to the 2nd round. Speculation is they probably want to know the cost of moving up in case someone they want falls out of the first round.

We are taking a QB in the first two rounds. If you are discussed by that, you need to get over it. I would much rather take one of the few studs in this draft at 9 and trade into the end of round 1 to take Dart than reach at 9. I can easily see us trading our 2nd and one of the 3rds to go up to 31 or 32 to get Dart.

In the NFL, you either have a QB or you are doing everything you can to take one.

I think the conventional logic would be to move up from 40 to late 1st round. Maybe Pittsburgh or Rams take a QB. Maybe they don’t. Saints then trade into late 1st to get 5th year option on their QB.

Trade value chart says Saints could trade with Eagles for the 32nd pick with Saints 2nd and 4th round pick.

My expectations are low for a reason with this organization.

People bitch only to bitch. This is exactly the scenario people claimed would be smartest.

Yeah I don’t mind this nearly as much than taking the same guy at 9 (although I’m not sure either of these guys are franchise guys). Do we need a starting caliber player at those spots…yes.

But in the chance you actually get a qb with it and have him for 5 years by getting 31-32 with 40 and some change then great.

I don't know why they feel they need a quarterback so bad this year. They have rattler no quarterback they draft this year is an upgrade over him. You wait until you can get an upgrade to draft a QB you don't just draft a QB to say you drafted a QB build the freaking team.

Assuming Carr has played his last game with the team, Moore needs a viable option for a starting quarterback, a quarterback being drafted at 9 is a must

I don’t think anyone including you or the Saints know wtf they’re doing in the first couple of rounds. Again, trading up into the 2nd most likely isn’t landing you Sanders or Dart at this point. Dart would be the only one most likely there. Theres also multiple teams that need to do the same thing. So, to say they’re taking a qb in the 2nd when we have no idea if either Dart or sanders will be there is just an idiotic claim.

Also, i don’t care if they take one of those guys in the 2nd. I just don’t think either will be available. If they take the Louisville qb in the 2nd I’d die from laughing. I just don’t think this report means much of anything other than them doing their due diligence.

This would be a good play in my opinion.

You’re hearing more and more that Dart will be the 2nd QB taken. I heard that three times today by three different people on ESPN.

We really just don’t know.

We don’t. I think they’re just preparing for scenarios. I’m sure they have a few guys they would trade up for and some of them may not even be a qb. The top half of the 2nd round is a very hot spot in this draft. Even 40 is gonna get you a starter if draft correctly. But i think the rams are a team to watch taking a qb this year. Obviously the Steelers, Giants may trade up, Browns can easily trade up. The idea that the saints are just taking any qb with their first two picks is an asinine thought.

And history shows the Eagles will get much more than a value chart when Howie and Loomis trade assets.

I've long thought the Saints would take Warren at 9 and trade up to get a Dart / QB

Also to me this is a non story except for the fact that another team leaked it. All teams are calling all of the time to gauge the cost of movement throughout the draft.

Loomis is on record as saying they are very active every year in judging the cost of moving up and even down (even though they never do it) throughout the entire draft
