He wasn’t proven his worth as a tackle yet

Trade or cut him

Am I the only one who thinks he played pretty well last year? Well enough that I think guard is a bigger concern than tackle. If Penning continues to improve, maybe a duo of him and Fuaga is something you can build on.

All I’m saying is this team needs so much help right now that I think we can make do with what we got at tackle for now.

More seriously, just move him somewhere besides LT. Or C. Or maybe not RT either.

I would just keep him for depth

Totally agree. The narrative on him in camp was he was going to get beat every play because of what Young was doing to him early in practice. But as it turned out, he was actually not that bad. I’m not saying he played at an all pro level, but he was much better than what people were expecting. Certainly serviceable. The improvement was significant.

Needing help everywhere doesn't mean that we don't address the offensive line. It's part of everywhere... and it's the most important position(s) besides quarterback. You have a dominant offensive line and you Have a successful offense. Period. It even made Sam Donald look all pro last year

Mickey is going to resign him for 10M+ per year because to not do so would be admitting it was a draft mistake.

Quitting on Penning would be a massive mistake. He’s playing his 3rd position in the same amount of years. He looked okay at RT and is still so raw. They need to coach up what we have at LT, Center, RG and RT. They need a LG badly and the assumption that Penning can just play LG is just not smart.

You have until 5/1 to pick up penning and olave’s fifth year options. Penning will cost around $17 mil in 2026 if we pick it up, Olave around $15.5 mil

Pretty sad when we aren’t even certain to pick up at lease one of our two top 20 picks

Be great if he could play LG. If he could I’d be good with drafting Cambell (not an LSU fan) and moving Fuaga back to the right side.

He did but they don't give any OL picked in the first round any slack on this board.

Peat had a solid 9 year career here as a starter and still gets called "project Peat" 2 years after he left the team.

Hopefully some team that was wishing they could have drafted Penning back then would be interested in a trade.

No one is talking about this as an option for us, but to me if Armand Membou is there, I could see us drafting him to play RT and moving Penning to LG (or the bench)
