REALLY good article on Shedeur's strengths and weaknesses (warning: ESPN+)

ESPN+ scouting report on Shedeur
I'm pretty surprised that ESPN still employs someone that is capable of watching film and making actual analysis. I'm even more impressed by the fact that he writes beyond a 9th grade level.
Pretty good breakdown of Shedeur's good and bad (mostly bad) playstyle. Also discusses why he would be a pretty bad fit here overall.

Just to add one thing from the article here, the writer thinks that Dart or Milroe are the more likely targets for the Saints in round 2.

i think milroe could be headed to NYG

If the Saints draft Milroe thats it for me following them. A blind man should be able to see he isnt even as good as Anthony Richardson.

Screw ESPN's pay wall.
Just go watch Chase Daniels youtube channel, I'm 100% sure that's where the ESPN guys got their review from anyway.

I agree with them. Our front office favors traits when it comes to prospects, especially early. Combine that with the fact that we literally just hired a former NFL QB at HC - presumably he can coach/develop QBs. Throw in also that he's been OC for Dak, Herbert and Hurts, all of whom have some athleticism. Guys like Dart and even Milroe just make more sense for us.
Shadeur isn't a bad prospect and I do find it very tiring that people are so focused on Shadeur the person and not Shadeur the player, because while he's a solid prospect, he's got some flaws in his game that will limit his ceiling in the NFL. He reminds me of diet Tua...he will do best in a Shanahan-style offense (ironically someone like Klint Kubiak would be great for him imo).

I hope so. Milroe especially. No reason to rush him, has by far the highest ceiling of any of these players at qb and if nothing else you have a guy you can run Taysom packages with as he has a very similar athletic profile and size. So while overdrafting would still provide some usefulness as a gadget player and not a total loss like other QBs who bust.

Milroe can only throw the deep ball.
He will be a disaster at QB in the NFL.

This is me for Shadoor (I've never bothered to learn how to spell his name). This is th biggest hype train for any prospect ever. Can't wait for him the be drafted anywhere else so the talking heads will shut up!

Hurts couldn’t throw at all at Bama.
I’m not saying he will be Hurts or even a good nfl qb. I’m saying in a group of shitty QBs he’s the only attainable one that I think has a guaranteed floor of a gadget player and any kind of high ceiling if an offensive coaching staff can work with him for a few years. I don’t think he’s a finished product at barely 22 years old. I don’t think you likely use him for 2 years outside of designed runs.
But I also think we’re seeing a shift with more of these highly drafted QBs finding success in their mid-late 20s in better situations. So I’m looking at this through the lens of a lower cost investment than a Baker, Goff, Darnold, etc with potentially a higher upside by the time he’s 26-27.
There just simply aren’t many 6’2 220 lb sub 4.4 40 human beings on the planet. There are even fewer who can throw a football well enough to be a successful college qb, and who are thought to have a good nfl arm like scouts feel about him.
The light may never go on but he’s going to be cheap for a qb and if a good coaching staff can work with him for a bit then I think he’s far more intriguing than any other option. That’s all.

This is how I see it. I’d rather wait for a poor man’s Lamar Jackson, if he falls to 40 then Ok, than spend a far more valuable pick on a poor man’s Teddy Bridgewater.

If I’m giving up a pick in the 2nd or third where you’d be hoping to draft a guy who would start at guard, mlb, slot wr, safety, corner, etc for a shot at a qb I don’t want it to be for a low ceiling likely shittier version of Carr. I want to swing for someone who could potentially be truly dynamic in the right hands.
Otherwise just draft the hopeful starter at another position.

THIS! And I am not a big Milroe guy, buy the kid has amazing athleticism and a howitzer attached to his shoulder. I would rather wait for him in the 2-3 rd (preferably the 3rd). If he doesn’t develop as a passer, then MAYBE you have someone that can be Taysom lite.
From all of the interviews I have seen of Milroe, he seems like a great kid. I WOULD MUCH rather spend a pick on him than Shedeur

..and he went to Oklahoma and threw the ball all over the place in his one year at OU.
He wasn’t getting that development at Alabama.

Another good thing is that with all the focus on Sanders, there are several games of Sanders' play this year uploaded to youtube.
Here's his throws against #17 BYU in the Alamo Bowl in just 6:30:

Wow, quite the story from Tom Pelissero. It’s anonymous sources, but still.

quote:
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, an anonymous assistant coach didn't hold back when asked about his time speaking with Sanders during formal combine meetings.
"One longtime NFL assistant coach said his time with Sanders was 'the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life. He's so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. But the biggest thing is, he's not that good,'" Pelissero reported.
quote:
One longtime AFC executive was also quoted by Pelissero and echoed concerns over Sanders' demeanor during interviews.
"Said one longtime AFC executive: 'It didn't go great in our interview. He wants to dictate what he's going to do and what's best for him. He makes you feel small,'" the executive said.
