He’d be the big body at WR we need and he’s still got a little gas left in the tank.

But why? We are not a 33 year old wr away from competing

This year should be focused on getting young guys reps and clearing the payroll of as much dead weight as possible

I don’t disagree, but the reality is no team goes into the season thinking how can I make sure we maximize my losses, work on resetting the roster/cap, while also building for the next 5+ years. They will make moves to try and compete for the NFCS and make a run. Realistically, things fall right they could win the division (it’s that bad) and host a playoff.

There's a difference between looking to maximize losses and investing in guys who fit a window. Our qb situation going into the season automatically disqualifies us from competing so audition guys for the future and throw as many darts as you can to find diamonds in the rough

You have to give Shough legitimate targets to avoid ruining his confidence year 1.

They’ve gpt their QB. Everything they do should be about helping him succeed not setting him up for failure.

A vet WR is needed now.

Keenan Allen is not a big body receiver.

At this point in his career he will mostly play In the slot. I'm sure he is wanting to much money also.

I'd take him for around 5 min guaranteed.

This division isn't going to be as weak as you think this year. All 3 other teams made significant improvements to their weaknesses. Falcons have potential to be one of the most improved defenses. Honestly, if I absolutely had to bet on right now without the rest of camp and free agency and such... I would place the Saints last. Maybe 3rd with Carolina. But I liked the Panthers draft. They will be better this year.

The Saints are notorious for not having healthy WRs now you want to add another one that can't stay healthy?

I don’t think our roster is anywhere close to the Bucs. Especially as it relates to skill position players. If Penix is decent Atlanta has much better weapons than us as well.

I think it’s more likely we’re 4th than 1st unless Slough plays like Josh Allen.

Fat Keenan isn’t the answer

Did you see the 1-year deal part?

I think Allen would be a really good signing for us for a 1 year deal. He would be huge in helping Shough develop in year 1. Experienced guy who knows how to get open and help his qb out.

I can see Loomis finding some money to take a shot at Amari Cooper with Moore’s ties to him in Dallas. Would be more expensive and need a longer term deal but would be a big upgrade.

The rosters may be better, but TB and Falcons have their failed retreads leading the way in Morris & Bowles. Canales & Moore are still the unproven guys that need time to see who they are.

But there is a really good shot that the Saints could have the better HC in the division. At least the optimism that he could be the better of the 4 should still be there

I don’t disagree with any of that. I was more responding to us winning the division this year. And right now if I had to bet on what’s more likely to happen I’d say it’s the more talented teams have a better shot at winning THIS year. Even if KM ends up being the better coach.

I do wonder how much Cohen leaving Tampa hurts their offense.
