Since 2015 the Saints….

Have made the fewest draft selections of any NFL team. Just 63 selections (Green Bay leads with 97 in the same time period).
Conversely, The NY Times ranks the Saints roster 29th in talent level. LINK /
I think it’s clear that Loomis’s strategy of trading up and burning all kinds of picks to do so is taking us to the bottom. We are finally going into a draft with a decent number of picks and needs everywhere. I cannot see any justification for him to continue to trade up.

Amazing how the narrative has shifted from:
"Loomis is a cap wizard who finds ways to get Payton the players he wants"
To
"Loomis is responsible for the entirety of our downfall!"

This is year 4… doesn’t continue to get a pass. If he wanted to fix it he could swallow the red pill and fix it. Can’t consider him a cap wizard when the talent level has fallen so far we can’t compete with no clear plan in sight.

You can get away with aggressive swings when you have a HOF coach and qb. You need less, misses hurt less.

And again, how do you genius GMs know that Loomis hasn't gone to Gayle every offseason and presented her with a choice to either (A) do a hard reboot or (B) continue to kick the can and try to win our shitty division to sell season tickets?
The guy has always been a shitty GM but it wasn't until Tom Benson went downhill that we suddenly got saddled with the "let's just do what it takes to be an OK team" mandate from ownership -- same as the Pelicans where Gayle had a heavier involvement before Tom's death.

Not to make excuses for the Saints recent drafting failures, but I think a lot of of you forget how stacked our roster was for a few seasons after the miraculous 2017 draft. There were very few rosters spots available - any draft picks after round 3 had almost no chance of making the team and a high likelihood of getting plucked from our practice squad.
