Meh. Nothing to be excited about, honestly. After Drew retired, it kind of went downhill for me as a fan. From 1987 until 2006 I watched the worst football imaginable.

After the 2006 to 2021 seasons, it is very difficult to revert back to being middle of the road, or worse.

I initially had faith in Carr, but after watching him play and with DA, it's just not exciting. I used to put so much into game day, and when we lost, it was the end of the world. It's exhausting to get so excited and be let down over and over again.

The Allen/Carr combo is one of the bottom 5-7 combos in the league.

And the team is acting under the guise of league rules that state fans can’t attend. Rams/Chargers okay’d it for team to host fans, front office decided against it because it was cheaper.

I feel like this is a throwaway season for DA to fail and get fired. Hard to get excited about that.

We were contenders for fifteen straight years.

We are now in that place where you have too many overpriced players from your glory days, and we compounded it by overpaying a bad vet QB.

We wouldn't be in this situation if the powers that be actually cared at all about winning. They would have immediately pulled the plug and started a hard rebuild and just sucked for 2-3 years. They would have taken the cap pain and just been bad.

Instead they wanted to pretend they were still all in when they shouldn't have been. We would have been coming out the other side right now. Instead we are in the worst place you can be.

No one should be happy about it.

Mickey won’t admit DA is the worst non rookie head coach because then that’s admitting he’s failed.

I think Mickey is perfectly fine with being mediocre

Because he’s a defacto owner. He and Dennis can sit back and collect checks. What other team has a GM in his position that’s not a family member.

If the person in charge of your roster has no fear whatsoever of ever having any negative repercussions...

You get what we have now

Maybe this board is dead because folks with useful information don't want to mix in with a lot of negative trash talk.... The Saints had better fans when they only won a couple of games a year. As for me..... I'm jacked!!!

This. When any positivity is posted here the negative rebuttals pour in like a disease. Myself, I'm ready!

Do you have the link to this?

Everything I’ve read said no fans because of the Rams and Chargers. Even local news isn’t allowed to go because of it

Huge oversight on the Saints part. I think without the fan experience (albeit in a different location) we are seeing a downtick in excitement

I don't get this at all. There's teams that have been trying to "rebuild" for decades. Can we stop acting like all we have to do is suck for a few years then we can rise like a fricken phoenix out of the dumps of the NFL? We had a winning record last year and finished great. I don't care who the teams were either, they were NFL teams. Y'all seem to forget we sucked for 40 years before we didn't. I have no clue why you would think we can just be good on command if we only sacrifice a few years. That's comical to me.

NOLA no call ruined my fandom forever. It only got worse with the Brees apology tour, the bullshite kneeling, our coach quitting on us, and our front office accepting absolute mediocrity.

Every team should handle each situation differently.

The Saints needed to rebuild. Old roster that was saddled with an untenable cap situation.

I don't care about whatever cap maneuvers they can do. They needed to get it under control, and be able to add talent.

They didn't do it. They should have.

Local media is def out there. They’re just limited as to what they can film during practice.

The rule states that you can’t go into another team’s market. Dallas is grandfathered in. Raiders are also practicing without fans. This could’ve been circumvented with hosting practices with any of the teams. This was just the least expensive route.

I think it is almost unanimous there should have been a rebuild started a couple of years ago. Take the cap hit, get a few picks and hopefully get some young players that the fans can get behind.

But what do the saints do? They keep kicking the can, keeping aging players and a failed coach and thus the fans have no real hope for the future.

What game changer are we going to get picking in the middle of the first round? What splash free agent signing can we have when we have to continually work our roster to stay under the cap? Are the coaches going to suddenly become better? Are the aging vets going to suddenly improve?

This is Kamara's 8th training camp.
Cameron Jordan's 14th
Demario Davis' 13th
Mathieu's 12th
Carr's 11th
Lattimore's 8th
etc

What player are your really excited to see this year?

This is why this board is dead.

To be fair it's the quiet before the storm. Soon there'll be actual things to talk about.

I've resigned that this team is stuck in the mud with Allen, but I am looking forward to watching some football this year.

Because we’re dragging out a very slow march to the bottom and it just isn’t fun. Let’s be real most fans would be a lot more engaged had we lost 5 more games last year and had a new qb to move forward with.

The absolute best case scenario is the stars align perfectly and our aging roster scrapes together a division in one of the worst divisions in football to get worked in the playoffs.
