Why didn’t the Saints target a WR in this draft?

Definitely needed help in the receiver corps, do they like what they have already?

Who knows. But it will be high on our list of needs for next year.

Olave- concussions, inuries
Shaheed - injuries
Cooks - concussions, injuries
4th WR...
5th WR...
Possibly 6th depending on roster configuration...I don't think we will need to worry about this...that spot will go somewhere with NFL talent

WR will be a position that Saints look at in 1st or 2nd round next year I imagine.

Our WR room this year, if healthy, has enough depth. No one is elite, but I didn’t think it was a position we needed to worry about with all the other positions that needed depth.

If they didn’t prioritize WR in this draft they obviously feel good enough about who they have.

I trust their judgement of their own talent and how it fits their vision of the team.

And no it doesn’t mean they or I feel like they have a WR room full of HoFers. It’s about priorities.

WR is also one of the positions in FA with the most depth left, if we feel like we still need another.

Some decent players at CB as well still hanging in FA.

apparently so...

we did get Means via the draft last year, signed Cooks, and they were pretty high on Mason last year... that's not all that exciting to me, but to them, they fell ok about it, I guess

Why draft passing catching TEs or WRs if you can't throw the ball to them?

9 picks 9 different positions means they did there best to fill positions. They will grab udfa's, camp cuts and or camp trades before week 1 I imagine.

And, I'll bring up again, FA is still not over, and WR has a lot of depth left.

You are far too focused on the now

And every team who needs a WR will be calling Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper. The rest of the crop is arse

Yeah this is the issue of course. Hopefully we can get a 6’2”+ next year

I mean maybe. May also have to do with having exactly TWO who are worth a shite and not exactly bastions of health.

seems to me that the offense will rely heavily on the run game and take shots down the field off play action.

but also, by running the more keeps the defense off the field longer.

that's just a half arse guess. Because you're right, they didn't really address it but maybe they sign a vet down the road? I don't know.

KM likes 12 personnel.

League has definitely trending smaller with WRs. Especially the elite ones. TEs are so athletic these days you can often have one of them be the “big bodied” guy. He’ll the Super Bowl champs have an amazing pair of WRs and they are 6’ and 6’1”

So according to Loomis they had a few WRs the liked and were set to pull the trigger but they went off the board a few spot before them.

100% they wanted they guy from Arkansas. TeSlaa (Lions grabbed him at 70) Maybe Savion Williams too (Packers at 87)

Doubt they were targeting McMillan. (Panthers at 8) They seemed pretty locked on Oline with 9. My bet is they were hopping Campbell feel to them but had Banks at 1B.
