Five people are dead and one escaped from a Lafourche Parish house fire Saturday morning.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, who remains on the scene with the Louisiana Fire Marshal, did not identify the victims. Officials said the cause of the fire is also unknown and that the investigation is expected to take days.

The Bayou Blue Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call of the fire around 3:45 a.m. in the 300 block of Louise Lane in Bayou Blue.
