However, being flush with cash now means that many established Nvidia executives are reportedly operating in "semiretirement" mode, which caught the attention of CEO Jensen Huang. They are financially comfortable enough that they don’t seem motivated to work as hard as they used to.
el oh el. If I had $10,000,000; bro , I’m coming in when I want and leaving when I want and you can feel free to fire me whenever. But, in these crazy liberal companies, it’s pretty much impossible to get fired unless you blatantly violate company policy, which I believe coming in and leaving isn’t a specific company policy. These NVDIA folks ain’t MJ, Brady, or Saban.

No. AI is not fake, it's just immature right now. In 5 years it will destroy so many industries. So far it is just marketing, writing, graphic design, illustration that have been killed. Next wave will be programming and software dev + video game development.

After that it will be a complete takeover of healthcare in diagnostics. Then therapy...

It cannot be stopped.

Ok, I don’t mean in bed with the Democrat Party. I mean companies who have very liberal HR staff and policies. I work for one who also happens to be a large oilfield service company. It took me 1.5 years to terminate someone who was terrible given the insane amount of hoops HR made me jump through. Now, failed drug test, company vehicle accident while drunk or on your phone, you’ll be terminated immediately; but again, those are direct violations of company policy. Being lazy isn’t.

Gonna be a helluva set of documentaries/movies/series when the company crashes before the end of the decade.

Is that your prediction?

If they have 23mil, it's going to be 20mil after tomorrow. Sucks for them.

I absolutely hate reading these kinds of articles. They fuel my already-existing insecurities about how fricking poor I am

I am not saying you are wrong, but the same thing was said about talk to text in the early '90s. Ai is not going away, but being bleeding edge tech, its niche (or world domination) has yet to be determined.

Just cause there’s a goalie doesn’t mean you can’t score.

I used to play Eve Online with an old retired MS employee who was amazingly wealthy from the stock. He had a single digit MS employee #, was there from the start.

He is gone by now. That was about 10-15 years ago and he had been diagnosed with cancer. Last I heard he was marrying a Chinese woman and trying to start up an outdoors equipment company in China.
He already had several businesses that he either owned or was part owner.

He was probably worth about hundred million dollars. Silicon Valley can make people rich or it can break them but usually with some sort of golden parachute.

NVIDIA employee with 20 million dollars

Book value of options doesn’t equal liquid value. Many are probably handcuffed by vesting schedules and exercising rules.
