Male tiger does those things plus hunts his own food. Extra practice killing.

The tiger 10 out of 10 times. There was another similar thread recently about a tiger vs a bear or something.

Siberian tigers are known to stalk, kill and eat brown bears, which are bigger than grizzlies.

A Siberian tiger is probably the apex predator on earth outside of man.

To be fair, these are the bears that tigers stalk and kill. They are not bigger than grizzlies.

Sun Bear

Also, the Asian Black Bear (which is also not a "large" bear)

"Dave Hoover, the animal trainer for Cole Bros. Circus, mentioned that "lions are better fighters than tigers," and that some of their circus tigers were killed by lions."

In 1934, a fully grown African lion killed a mature Bengal tiger a short time after these circus animals were unloaded from the train, before trainers could separate them.[12]

At South Perth Zoo, 1949, in a three-minute fight between a lion and a tiger, the lion killed the tiger. The fight occurred when the tiger put his head through a connecting slide. The lion caught the tiger by the throat, and, dragging it through the opening, killed it before the keepers arrived.[37]

At a Circus in Detroit, in February 1951 a large male African lion called 'Prince' suddenly leaped from a high perch and sank its jaws into the back of a Bengal tigress called 'Sheba', while she was performing, catching her off-guard. A blank gun was then fired, Prince let Sheba go, and Sheba dragged herself away. Sheba then died an hour later, because of the injuries sustained.[38][39]

In a corporation zoo in Madras, India, in September 1951, an eighteen-year-old tiger called 'Vikram' entered the cage of a seven-year-old lion called 'Leo', and got into a fight with it. Badly mauled, including in the femur, Vikram retreated into its cage, and despite receiving medical attention, died.[40]

In December 2008, at the zoo in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, Korea, a 110.0 kg (242.5 pounds) male lion called 'Cheongi' killed a 90.0 kg (198.4 pounds) Siberian tigress called 'Hobi', which was similar in length to it, by suddenly biting it in the neck after it made a poor landing in a trench where Cheongi jumped into, 5 m (16 feet) below Cheongi's yard, which was next to Hobi's pen, to catch a chicken that a zookeeper had thrown to it.[23]

At Liberec Zoo, Czech Republic, in November 2009, two lions, fourteen-year-old Sultan and eleven-year-old Elsa, opened a trap door to the enclosure of a seventeen-year-old white tigress called 'Isabella', and killed it.[41]

I think a hyena is a bit higher on the dangerous scale than a sun bear. Might be wrong, though.

Neutral site? Each has a distinct home field advantage.

*The most recent account happened on March 2011, where a tiger at the Ankara Zoo attacked a lion through its enclosure and killed the lion with a single paw swipe."The tiger severed the lion's jugular vein in a single stroke with its paw, leaving the animal dying in a pool of blood", officials said.

*In 1857, a tiger at the Bromwich Zoo broke into the cage of a lion and a fearful scene ensued: the lion's mane saved his head and neck from being injured, but the tiger succeeded in ripping up his stomach, and within a few minutes he was dead.

*At the Coney Island Zoo in 1909, a male tiger killed a male lion.[18]

Not Legit thread. Like asking who you got between Pit bull and a Labrador. The lion is king of jungle only because tigers don't live in the African jungle.

Seems like I saw a computer simulation on History Channel/maybe Discovery. I think they said the Lion would win because of the mane and the fact it's used to fighting. A tiger is a loner where as lions are always in competition.

Yep. They said Tigers' kill shot is to stalk their prey, and bite behind the neck, where the Lion's mane would help protect, so the lion would win most of the time due to its experience and that built in defense.

it sounds like the lion can win if it catches the tiger off guard and sucker bites it.

Tigers swing with both paws better than lions who usually use one at a time. However, tiger would have a tough time choking a lion out because of the size of a lions neck.

Adult male lion vs adult male tiger in the wild, the lion would probably back off and choose not to fight.
In a fight to the death, probably the tiger because of its size but I'm not sure. Male lions are killing machines.
