AMITE — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a person of interest after responding to a welfare check at a home on Eastwood Drive in Amite. Inside the home, deputies discovered 66-year-old Priscilla Brocato and later found 75-year-old Marc Brocato deceased on the property.
“We are not detailing much about the way that we have determined that they died,” Tangipahoa Parish Public Information Officer Ashley Rodrigue said. “However, we can confirm that this is a homicide case.”
Deputies arrived at the residence around 1 p.m. Thursday to conduct the welfare check when they found the woman dead inside.
They discovered Marc Brocato’s body later in the afternoon.

“The individual who called for the welfare check said the last they had spoken to this family was on Sunday. They made attempts to reach them over the past couple of days, and finally reached out to us to check,” Rodrigue said.
Detectives are now working to locate the couple’s son, along with a white van that has gone missing from the property.

Joshua Brocato is a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Detectives believe he may be traveling in a white 2014 Ford utility van, which was last seen in Lafayette on April 1st. The van has multiple Jesus bumper stickers on it.
He is 5’9”, weighing around 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
“This is a very disturbing crime. You’ve got two elderly people killed in their home, around their home, and we’ve got the potential at this time for the son who was unaccounted for. We are calling him a person of interest, but we don’t know what could have occurred with him, either,” Rodrigue said.

That’s odd. Why would it matter if he was or not?
