Any of you tried Starlink internet?

I’m getting tired of Cox but there aren’t many options. But Starlink is supposed to be the best satellite internet out there. Kids play Xbox so I was wondering if it could handle gameplay.

Any issues with your connection with Cox? Yeah, they suck as a company but I wouldn't get rid of cable internet for Starlink unless I had to.

I have had it for couple of years. No problems, price up to $120/month now. Don’t have x box but do have golf simulator , latency is very good for me. 22-24 ms. ( is that good for c box?

I have it out in the sticks. Total game changer.
I couldn't get any wifi at all besides Hughes Net/Dish Network and their internet is absolute trash. I couldn't get LOS to a damn thing because I'm in the BFE of rural Oklahoma and surrounded by mature oaks and pecans.
I get great connectivity and speeds. It's making properties out in BFE more desirable.
I have an XBOX X and download games fine but I don't play online. We stream on multiple devices with no problem.

Takes a bit more than streaming. Starlink won't handle online games, especially those like MW and the like

I've had Starlink for more than a year and it's been a game changer for me. My old Centurylink land line was unbelievably slow and streaming anything was hopeless. Starlink is plenty fast for me now. But a few caveats - the speed has been dropping as they add more subscribers, it will not function during VERY heavy rain but it has to be pouring to knock it down; lighter rain will slow it as well. And the price for the service has gone from $90 to $120. It takes really poor land line service for Starlink to be the better option. But for a lot of us living in the boonies it's been awesome.

Starlink is cool and works great. And the entire process of ordering (and returning) is elegant. But it's not going to beat a wired connection like Coax from Cox. I think I was getting 100 Mbps from Elon, while Cox gets me closer to 600.
It's really meant for an area with low coverage. It's significantly better than any other sat link you'll find.

Didn't know that. Thanks.
I've never had a problems with the speed. We don't have TV service, so everything we watch on any streaming platform is done through StarLink and we've enjoyed it but like I said, we were starting from basically nothing.

It’s what I have (only have two options).
It is remarkably fast and reliable - I am in a pretty remote area and I have hardly ever had any problems. If you do need to talk to someone, though, it is a gigantic pain in the arse to even figure out how to start the process.
Bonus: if you like to camp/RV but still want to be connected for whatever reason, you can take your satellite anywhere with you without much hassle.

You folks need to get on your state legislators.
I have 1GB fiber to the home here in the Mississippi sticks and it’s flawless.
MS now lets the power companies run the fiber on their poles. Absolute game changer for the state.

Yes starlink is great. My in laws live just outside of deridder. Not in deep the sticks. They could never get decent internet for many years. Tried multiple providers and it all sucked.
They got starlink and it’s faster than my fiber optic ATT in town. I highly recommend especially if you’re in a rural or semi rural area.

Rule number one in internet connections: if you have access to fiber or cable, that's your first choice.
I've had Starlink for a couple years now out here in Virginia boonies, it's great. Compared to the LTE signal I was grabbing from a 50' antennae. Never even tried Hughes as my neighbors told me it was a waste of time.
I had to get the Starlink mobile option first at $150 / mo. as just last fall they just started offering Residential here so now it's down to $120. It is 500-600 to buy into the equipment.
As for speed, it does everything we want, including online gaming. I do have everything hardwired in my house, however. Can see where using just WiFi can inject latency issues.
Saw a fiber company out surveying power lines last week...YAY. They are adding fiber to all rural power customers from my elec Co-op within a year ot two. I will probably switch to it once it's available and if cheaper.

We have it at out camp on the Calcasieu and it is a game changer. In an area with almost zero cell phone service, and never had internet. Great being able to use phones, internet, and stream games on ESPN+ ETC.

I was getting around 200-250 mbs with Starlink before fiber was installed by my house. I’ve seen some getting faster, and it will increase as more satellites are launched. This allows internet to go everywhere.

I've had it for almost 3 years now. It's great. Goes out when the weather gets bad, but comes back quick.

Yes, I use it at the ranch. Run two houses off it with no problems.

I've never understood what y'all are experiencing with Cox. I've had them since 1999 and have never had any large issue. My internet and/or cable has never not worked.

Download is solid, 75-150. Upload is not good. Around 10
Online games would be an issue

We have it at our camp and it works well
