Anyone ever get a mysterious amazon gift card balance in your account?

This happened to be about a year ago and it was roughly 200 dollar or so
I was going to buy something a minute ago and I see that I somehow have a 450 dollar gift card balance that got "claimed" in August
No idea how this glitch happened. Last time I called them and they said it was an error that would autocorrect itself. But this has been sitting there since August. No idea wtf is up with that. I'm tempted to treat myself to something

Have you returned anything? Last time I returned an item the refund was added to my account instead of getting put back on my card

I think sometimes if you aren’t paying attention when you return something you direct Amazon to return it to an Amazon gift card rather than the credit card you used to purchase the item. I’m pretty sure I’ve done that.

Absolutely sure. I've only made a handful of purchases over the last year. One was an SSD drive that's in my desktop right now.

Yep... about 8-10 yrs ago. Contacted Amazon and they said they would look into it and I could keep the gift card. I was never charged.
Want to say it was around $100. It was an even number like $100 or $120 and definitely wasn't a return.

I literally just did this. I could have sworn I selected to refund back to my credit card but I have an Amazon gift card balance now.

You probably purchased something that you never received and they gave you a credit.
