You went to the guard at the plant to ask how long the twic card takes to come in? Why not call the twic office and ask them the status.
I did call the TWIC office - they were zero help on this.
I did not ask the guard - she saw my expiration date and warned me that there can be long delays now.

It was about 2 months since I had applied so I made a twitter account and messaged the director of the TSA and I Dm'd his assistant, boom, a week later I had it. Turns out they "misplaced" my paperwork.

Mine expires in April 2017, sounds like I should renew in Jan 2017 to be safe

I renewed my over on Siegen lane back in June. I was in there for about 10 minutes and I received the new card in less than 2 weeks. It does not take months like they originally did when they started this govt BS.

I think the key is to do all the paperwork and the questionnaire online and then make an appointment to sign and fingerprints.

It's taking less than a week at the seigen lane location if you're in BR. No lines either.

Took 4 weeks.
Took 6 months for my captain's license renewal. I was shitting bricks. They totally suck and messed up my paperwork three times. Come to find out my last name was too long to fit on thier fax. USCG/fed gov is way understaffed when it comes to licensing.

Renewed in July, got my card in a week. Went to the TSA place on Williams Blvd. Made an appointment, got there 10 minutes before and was in/out in about 10 minutes total.
