All of mine have that tag since I exclusively buy my Levi’s from them directly online, so I have no problem with their quality.
The fact (from my experience) that the 501s seemingly fit so differently between the different washes is my problem/frustration.

Stopped wearing them for years over their politics. Bought a pair at the Levi's store and I have to admit they're legit.

I’m not sure. But Levi’s makes a slim straight for Target now. They’re called denizen. That might be why.
