Fact-O-Bake or something similar.
Looking to refresh a 15yrs old car. Car still runs like a Lexus, but a golf ball size dent on it and some rust spots. Figure I could just paint the whole car.
Budget $1K or so. Not looking for something showroom..

I had an ol pickup truck done it’s a cheap job it is what it is mainly just to cover up some different colors or some rust. They have options for clear coat, etc but the paint is cheap so it doesn’t look awesome but definitely much better than something like that. I had mine done for $400, $1000 may get you something actually decent just call em

I’ve had two cars painted at el cheapo paint shops. The first was an old race car which I had done at Maaco in Baton Rouge around 1999. They talked me into sealing the primer and clear coat. Wound up costing about $800. It has held up well because the car is always garaged but it scratches easily due to the paint being very thin. I had a Jeep painted by another cheap place on the Westbank expressway in Marerro. Same sell on sealing the primer and clear coat. This was around 2008 and the Jeep stays outside without a cover. It faded on all of the horizontal surfaces within 3 years and today is 100% faded. The Jeep cost around $1200.00. Keep in mind they only paint the outside of the vehicle. Door jambs, underside of hoods, etc. is extra as is any prep work (I always did the prep myself).

Used Fact-o-bake one time like 15 years ago and was satisfied.

Used facto bake once in then 90’s.
Was fine for 2 years then sold the car. I think I upgraded to the $399 job.
It helped that I wanted the same color.

I’ve done many cars through the Lafayette fact-o-bake. You just have to prep the car yourself, they do not sand it and do not do anything to it. Sand the car, bondo all your dents, and prime the car. Send them a primed car and you will get a really good paint job for around $800. Paint is only as good as the way you prep it.

They just tell you that. They don’t sand worth a dawn, I assure you. It’s one of those things time is always money. If you have money, you can buy time, if you don’t have money, you probably have time. If you want a 5k quality paint job, you’re going to have to pay 5k. If you want a 5k paint job and don’t want to spend 5k, you are going to have to do a lot on your own. Paint takes skill, prepping does not and prepping takes the most time. You can easily get a 5k quality paint job with fact o bake if you do all the prepping yourself. When you prime it correctly, they are forced to make the paint job thick and will last. I did a Porsche 996 project build through them and it has held up greatly.
