There is one in Tuscaloosa that is owned by a group of vets, and this one, too, is pretty expensive.

One off Airline - don't go there
Sherwood South Animal Hosptal is good
LSU is there 24/7 365
100.00 emergency consult
Been to LSU & Sherwood South
In the event of an emergency I would go to LSU

The one off Airline is Baton Rouge Pet Emergency Hospital. It's open 24/7. It gets the job done but I'd definitely recommend Sherwood and LSU over that one. I took my dog there for an after hours non-emergency (that my wife thought was an emergency) so I didn't have to wait at Sherwood for two hours. They did a good job.

I've had to go there. Nice people. Dog was gasping for air and passed out. When we got there, nobody could figure it out and she got better. I think she just had a panic attack. It scared us more than usual because our other died of a heart attack not too long before.

As others have mentioned, Sherwood does have a 24 hour clinic, however the LSU vet school has a 24/7/365 emergency clinic that is much more capable than the Sherwood hospital. We once brought our dog to Sherwood in the middle of the night only to be told that they didn't even have the medication our dog needed. So they sent us to LSU and still made us pay the emergency fee. And the cost is the same at LSU so it's pointless to go to Sherwood considering the inadequacy of service they provide as compared to LSU.

This!

My dog broke her jaw several years ago, on a Sunday. (For those wondering, she was full speed going to pick up her bumper and caught a drain sticking out of the ground a few inches) Her main K9 was sticking out a good bit. My experience with Sherwood is summed up here: I told the vet that I wanted to do everything I could to save the tooth, as it was a K9 and labs need them to pick things up. She said that there was no way to know if the tooth would fall out....until it fell out, or didn't. Bam...$$$ to basically say good luck.

Turns out my primary vet is the only board certified dental specialist in the state, who also teaches at LSU (I didn't know either of these things until this incident). There WAS something that could be done and that HAD to be done RIGHT AWAY to save the tooth. The only good thing Sherwood did was fax the visit notes to my primary vet, who immediately (that next day) did surgery to fix the tooth and as we discovered fixed her broken jaw.

This long winded explanation is to agree with Telstra that Sherwood was inadequate in my experience and LSU, while expensive, is best in these emergency situations.

The Vet school has a late night clinic. I've been there a few times, I don't remember it being super expensive but it wasn't cheap.

Baton Rouge Pet Emergency Hospital on Cottondale off Airline near Goodwood. Never been.
