I still frequently listen to his old Coast to Coast AM episodes. Sadly no one has been able to reach the heights he did on that show. He had some legendary episodes on C2CAM.

Loved listening to his show late at night when I couldn't sleep on AM frequency back in the day.

Extinguish thy radio!
RIP to the goat. You can still find many of his C2C, area 2000 and midnight in the desert episodes on YouTube. C2C is a little harder to find as those are heavily copyrighted still

Driving thru Ok, skimming AM recently and found his old show being broadcast.
Picked up a station from Omaha Nebraska, 1110 KFAB.
Apparently they replay them every Saturday night at 8pm local.

skimming AM recently and found his old show
Switching it over to AM
Searching for a truer sound
Can't recall the call letters
Steel guitar and settle down
Catching an all-night station
Somewhere in Louisiana
It sounds like 1963
But for now it sounds like heaven

Art Bell is the GOAT of late night radio. His radio presence was the best I ever heard.

I often heard his show while working odd hours and was mildly amused by his schtick. Never found any of it credible, but it was like hearing a series of science fiction stories.
OTOH, maybe his aliens beamed him up...

Gripping thread. Can’t wait to see it again every year. I can even predict the thread title: “Art Bell died 8 years ago”

I’ve always been more of an Archie Bell kind of a guy.

I miss that dude a lot. If I could bring back any celebrity that died too soon, it would be Art. There's nobody close to doing it how he did it. At least that I know of.

Have you given The Why Files a shot? He started out on YouTube, but also has a podcast now. He goes into some really wacky stuff every now and then, but almost always debunks the silly stuff. Even then you’re left with enough undeniable things to leave you wondering in the end. Pretty entertaining.
