The audacity to yell at responders after your dumbass decided to sign the paperwork and THEN go look at the vehicle and observe damage.

Well lets find out, can YOU spot the damage here?

Not to mention, the CARFAX was clean as a whistle.

This was a 2023 truck with 20k miles so clearly I was not expecting there to be any damage outside of some minor nicks.
So, in your world, a car with under 20k miles on it can't get in a wreck?

YOU didn't CAREFULLY inspect the vehicle pre-purchase.

The dealer has no obligation to disclose minor repairs and repaints on a used vehicle.

Stop being dumb.

I had a rental from SIXT in DC last week. I walked around the vehicle & took pictures of it before I drove off. The fuel cap door was dented before I got it. They tried to hook me for that when I returned it yesterday. Denied.

That's what smart people do. Try to act more like us going forward.

Regardless of what you can/can't see in pics...the VERY FIRST thing you should have done when they rolled up was walk around the truck and do a very detailed inspection for dings/scratches/scrapes/chips etc. with the salesperson walking with you and pointing anything out to them right then and there and get it documented with agreed to resolution or refuse delivery of the vehicle. Then you move to the interior and do the same thing...check all the buttons, switches, levers etc. then pop the hood and look in the engine compartment, then get on your back and look under the vehicle. It's not that hard to understand even if you're buying a NEW vehicle you should do this.

Carfax doesn’t just automatically know when something is damaged. Their info is based on service records and auto claims.

However, you took delivery of a used vehicle that’s sold AS IS without the proper inspection.

Show me in the pic where the damage is. You can't deny that its really hard to notice. Especially when the sales guy himself said "I showed that truck twice and never noticed the damage"

Assuming your son is a teenager, he's probably going to put plenty more dents in that soon enough. Buying a kid a $40k truck they don't need is a dumb move.

So I guess my question here is are they obligated to make it right? Do they legally have to disclose any damage at the time of sale?

Did you ask, in writing (email) if there is any damage other than what is listed? If they said "Nope, no damage", you might have a chance, and the fault lies with the dealer.

If you did not ask, then you are presumed to know the condition of what you are purchasing, having had the opportunity to inspect said item. In that case, you bought the truck "as is".

Dealership under no obligation, but like my granpappy used to say, "Might as well ask. Askin's free.".

My guess would be the bottom of the bumper to the right of the trailer hitch. However seeing it in the picture doesn’t matter because
quote:

Dealer came down from Hammond and delivered the truck, I signed the papers and they left.

And you didn’t look at it before signing.

You can’t claim innocence saying you didn’t notice but them condemn the dealer and demand action because they missed it as well.

ETA I’m guessing on the damage, the truck never came to my driveway.

I can see it but you already told use where it was.

None of this matters, you are SOL unless they do it as "goodwill".

You won't get any sympathy from me but I am the guy that shows up with a coating thickness gauge and spends more than an hour poring over a used vehicle even once I have decided to but it conditional on what I find.

This is not accurate, OF COURSE I looked at it. I just didn't notice it, as you can see in the picture, and as evidenced by the statement from the sales guy about not noticing it, its difficult to spot especially on a practically new vehicle and no matter how you cut it, a DEALERSHIP doesn't sell damaged vehicles. IF they had seen the damage they clearly would have fixed it before selling it.

You can't seriously tell me a business highly dependent on customer service would willingly deceive a buyer and secretly hope they don't notice the damage till after the sale then tell the buyer to eff off.

No that’s not what I’m saying, but both of you missed it. You and the dealer.

It’s very minor, it’s used, and it’s a truck.

Your OP is poorly written then because it’s written like you bought it based off the pics, had it delivered, signed the papers, then visually inspected.

EDIT Someone at Ross Downing knocked off the TD logo as the RD that appears on the open tab looks just like the TD mobile logo.

You are either dumb or being intentionally obtuse. It doesn’t matter what you can see in the picture, you didn’t look at it until AFTER taking ownership

Nobody was willingly deceiving you. you didn't inspect the vehicle properly and only after you took delivery did you notice the damage.

Now let's move on the hypothetical of you call the dealership and tell them you found the damage after they left....how do they know you didn't back up your new truck into a pole after they left?

I do know how to read. This is what I read....that you wrote:
quote:

Dealer came down from Hammond and delivered the truck, I signed the papers and they left. Shortly after I went to check on the temp tag and noticed damage to the rear bumper. Due to the location of the damage and the color of the truck, it's really hard to spot the damage unless you are specifically looking for it.

Seems to me that you would've given a really good once-over before signing the papers finalizing the sale and letting them leave. But what do I know, I'm the dumbass apparently.

PS: You're a moron for getting that truck for a kid.

I don't care what grades he makes, how great a kid he is, etc.

I could get my kids new vehicles when they were in High School.

I got them reliable & safe older used vehicles to learn on.

Halfway through college (once I saw they were each flying steady) I got them each new Accord sedans.

I'm guessing that's not the only picture you have of the vehicle, but you're just hell bent on being a dipshit

Gee I would think so since the damage wasn't repaired

Zero people in here are saying you should've noticed it from the pictures alone, yet you keep harping on that very irrelevant issue.

No way, the SALES GUY said he never noticed the damage? Weird. All sales guys tell the truth at all times, so I can see why you believe it without question.

And you have the nerve to call me the dumbass, you fricking dumbass.

Yeah. He lied to you. He knew it was there and was just hoping somebody would be dumb enough to purchase the vehicle without asking or noticing.

Also, I can tell pretty easily where the damage is.
