Bar Rescue: Turtle Bay (Now Spirits) NOLA owner connected with Tropical Isle

Recently started watching reruns of Bar Rescue and ran across the Turtle Bay episode.
Is the story true of the owner (Brad Bohannon I think) started as part owner at Tropical Isle and left on bad terms before starting Turtle Bay.
He claims that all of the branding, merchandise, and the “Hand Grenade“ were all his idea, so that’s why he copied them with Turtle Bay.
Guy sounds like a wiener for not being able to come up with a new concept or one that was sustainable on of all places...Bourbon Street. Then he had to have his bar “rescued”
Anyone here have anymore information on this or know someone involved? Do those guys post here?

the bar they "rescued" out by Tulane & Loyola Universities saddened me
I went to that joint several times as a LOYNO student before it needed "rescuing"

Is bar rescue the show with the guy who yells all the time?

Did he get sued?
I haven't watched Bar Rescue in years and haven't seen the Turtle Bay episode of it even longer...
but if I recall correctly... part of the reason Turtle Bay needed "rescuing" was due to the fact that he lost a lawsuit to Tropical Isle
(Turtle Bay was basically right across the street from tropical Isle IIRC... so dude was begging for trouble)

TJ Quills. I don't think the Bar Rescue guy had even left town before they re-branded themselves as Quills.
Someone got murdered outside of it a few months ago. Place is such trash.

I don’t remember if they mentioned this in the episode, but it certainly makes sense

TJ fricking Quills.

My best memories were the black out nights there. Big Cup Nights were a rout. THE place to go if you're underage and want to drink.

Wasn’t that a different episode? The one on Bourbon became vampire themed or something I thought lol

That special drink was terrible

Loved TJ’s. Couple of swiller cups of Orlando magic had 16 year old me all kind of drunk

Swilla night at TJ's. That place was spectacular as a junior/senior in high school. Those cups were a godsend for filling with water to cure a hangover.
I had heard that Tafford is good guy and when he wasn't filming he made a ton of money consulting with bars in the city they were in.

They changed it to a bar called Spirits on Bourbon. It's still open and apparently still doing pretty well (until Covid of course). It's not really vampire themed but it does look nice on the inside.

Many Tuesdays of my high school days were spent at TJ's 25 cent draft beer night

Dealing with those hangovers at school from the night before at TJ's were always fun days.

yeah it seemed like the rebrand to Spirits really took off and was very successful
can't go wrong with a death/Halloween theme in NOLA, right?
plus giving a stupid backstory to hook people in? it just seemed to work
I couldn't remember the name TJ Quills for the life of me
