Nola article from April after they raided him

quote:

While lobbying for a small group of clients, Burland is best known in political circles for assisting candidates in establishing campaign finance accounts and ensuring that they record the contribution and expenditure information accurately.

Burland, 68, has mostly worked with Republicans over the years but has also assisted a smattering of Democrats, including New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, who has been under federal investigation for more than a year. In the course of that probe, FBI agents have questioned people who donated money to Cantrell’s campaign accounts — which were managed by Burland — to see whether they got anything in return, according to sources with knowledge of those interviews.

quote:

Burland worked in the 1980s as a lobbyist for the powerful Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and for the Adams & Reese law firm from 1990-93. He’s had his own practice in recent years.

quote:

Campaign finance reports show that his clients include the Republican Legislative Delegation Campaign Committee, the Louisiana Realtors PAC, the Crescent River Port Pilots Association PAC and then-state Treasurer John Schroder during his failed 2023 campaign to be governor.

The campaign finance reports also show that he’s been a consistent donor to LABI’s PACs and to the Louisiana Republican Party.

Burland also plays guitar and writes songs, and his web page devoted to his music highlights a song of his called “Perspectives in a Coffee Shop.”

quote:

“His lyrics and melodies seek to reverberate heartfelt emotions surrounding personal relationships, such as long-lost love, and later-in-life regrets that still haunt many of his Boomer generation,” his web page says.

He going to Oakdale, LA Federal Prison. The pedophile capital of the US.

ETA: When you're federally convicted of pedophilia anywhere in the US, the most likely place they will send you is Oakdale, LA. They like to concentrate them all in one place.

Curious if he was raided for a political/campaign/finance issue and they found the kiddie porn doing forensic analysis of his computers.

Really? According to their website they are a low security facility. And according to google, “A low security federal prison, also known as a Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), is a facility that houses inmates who are considered to be a low risk to the community. These prisons are designed for inmates with shorter sentences or those who are nearing the end of their terms.”

They damn sure aren’t a low risk to the community. They should send those sick fricks to the super max facilities.

I think it's more about their risk as inmates.

They're not likely to try to escape, facilitate communications with criminal networks, influence parties, etc.

The FCC also includes the Federal Detention Center Oakdale Camp, a minimum-security satellite work camp for male inmates. The camp houses nonviolent inmates with less than 10 years left to serve. The camp offers educational, self-improvement, and work opportunities
