In Dallas I pay somewhere around $80-100 to have a full suit tailored. Would think it wouldnt be to dissimilar in BR
Bout the same.
The Yelp on this topic is helpful. I am familiar with some of these top rated Tailors and vouch for em.
There's also one not mentioned who's IN the Mall of LA. She's FAST if you need something done next day. Not cheap but will get you fixed up quickly. Forget the name but it's the only tailor in the Mall. She did me right on two suits in 2016.
Anyhoots. Here's the Yelp List. Golden Needle, Tinh, And Evelyn's are BR tried and true.

Bates and Thigpen downtown on 3rd if they’re still in business

I'll check them out and see how they price out.
I'm likely going to hit Dillards for their semi-annual sale after Christmas to see what I can find. Like I said, the material/brand shouldn't be too elaborate
Martinez is custom so you are not getting any suit from him for $300-$600. You can try, but I highly doubt he will alter someone else's suit.
I worked for a small suit shop while in high school and we went through a number of tailors while I was there plus I've had jobs since that I've had to wear a suit everyday. My 2 recommendations:
1.) Dominic at Fashion Tailoring off Highland in the same shopping center as French Market Bistro
2.) Golden Needle

take the suit to either Oscar off Highland (North gates)
Oscar’s done my stuff for years. Can always work with your schedule and does great work.
My only complaint is getting out of his shop can be a nightmare.

1) Martinez almost certainly won't really want to touch anything that he doesn't sell.
2) $600? shite, you might not be able to get a pair of pants from Martinez for that price.
3) Yes, he is expensive, but yes, he is top notch if you're looking for custom work. He's a world renowned tailor based right here in Baton Rouge.
4) Get yourself a suit you like in your price range and bring yo arse to the Golden Needle and let them do their magic on it for you.

I just got on made to measure suit tailored by Martinez. It was $85 to have the jacket sleeves and pants altered. They did a great job.
