Baton Rouge Water Company is the worst

So Baton Rouge Water Company did some maintenance on the main water line to our neighborhood and issued a boil-water advisory for our safety. They notified us of the advisory via a paper hangtag on our mailboxes at the street. Most people never got the notice and drank tap water all day. How about joining the rest of us in the 21st century and use current technology?

How many are hospitalized? Any deaths yet?

Which makes it odd that they’d issue a boil advisory.

We have some of the world’s best water.
The pipes? Not so much.

It's standard practice when they have to expose the pipes to atmospheric conditions for maintenance. This is a protection for any users downstream of the maintenance in the event the exposure allowed contamination of the water supply.

Amazingly the water in Midland Michigan is some of the best in the country even though it’s only like 60 miles from Flint.

Nah, he’s mostly right about BR Water Company. The water is good. The company does indeed need to join the 21st century.
One of my frustrations is that there’s no way to log in to your account online to manage anything. The few things you can manage from their website often don’t work. For example, there’s a “transfer service” link on their website that simply brings you to a page that says “this form is unavailable, call us.”
It’s a pain in the arse to change any autopay settings because you set it up through a Western Union link on the bill PDF, and there’s no clear/simple way to (for example) change that autopay to a different bank account.
Entergy had automated phone calls (maybe even text messages) for outage information by the time BR Water even had paperless billing. I realize Entergy is a much larger company, it would just be nice if BR Water would get with the times.

Their payment is stupid but I figured out that if you open the pdf and click on 'mobile payment', it goes straight to the profile and I click my payment and it goes through instantly. I think I figured this out by accident
My irrigation bill is separate and I do have to put in the info every time, which kinda sucks

Right, and you can also set up automatic withdrawals using the SmartBill payment. The problem I’m facing currently is that there’s no obvious way to change the automatic withdrawal settings (e.g. switch to a different bank account).
If you go to the BR Water website, it tells you that you have to fill out a form and mail it to them with a voided check. Pretty archaic by 2024 standards, and they don’t even acknowledge that automatic payments can be set up directly from the SmartBill pdf (much less how to change it once you’ve enrolled).
As I said before, they really need to modernize their entire system.

Any chance that you would give us a reason or two that you have this opinion?

Hayes has nothing to do with the BR water company. He lives in Georgia.
Agree, the company needs to step into 2024.
