Need to buy a generator? I hear inverter uses less fuel. Any good brands to recommend? Will run fridge, chest freezer, and some fans

You don't need much o
If that's all you're running.
Inverter should be fine, but more costly.

i have a 6500 watt and it runs a freezer and fridge as well as a few fans
but to run the microwave i have to unplug everything but the fans, a microwaves use more power than you think it does

I have both a Westinghouse Igen2500 and Westinghouse IGen4500.
You say you only need the 2500 size which i love but let me tell you.... just a tad bit more money and you'd have no problem running all you want plus a window unit with the 4500. eta: Absolutely stick to inverters here.

The professor has you covered.

if you are going to invest in a genny to run those things, you might as well invest a little more to be able to run a window unit. A few days in the summer with no AC and you will be wishing you did.

We were out of power for the whole memorial day after storms. I have a 2300 Ryobi inverter and a 2250 wen inverter.
Tried to run 2 deep freezers and a fridge on the Ryobi alone and it tripped. Was able to run 2 deep freezers and my pellet grill on the wen and 2 refrigerators on the Ryobi.
Load was about half could have probably run some fans along with it.

I have a 6500 that supports 3 full sized refrigerators and a large window unit. Have used it multiple times. You can researched the output you need to cover what you plan to support, too.

I bought the harbor freight inverter, I think it was 5000 model. I’m not a fan of harbor freight but that generator didn’t eat much fuel, ran my chest freezer, fridge, a fan and internet and tv. It was close to being maxed out but it was sufficient for what I needed, which sounds similar to your needs

This, and If you have a gas line, get a tri fuel. Costco has them.

i'd still find a way to stick to an inverter. So much quieter and more efficient.

How long are you looking to run? Some of the new solar battery systems aren’t bad and the prices are dropping. Can always supplement them with a small gas generator.
If sticking with ICE, Champion dual and tri fuels are good.

I have a 9k HF generator and a 3500w HF inverter. No issues with either. They ran for 5 days after Ida with just fuel and an oil change.

If you're rich and want the best, honda 2kw inverter is the best of the best. If you don't want to spend that, Harbor fright predator inverters have a great reputation for the price if wanting cheaper. Several of the chinese inverters get the job done too. I have a Wen 2200w inverter and have had mostly good experience.
You should be able to run a couple deep freezers, fridge and 500w window unit on a 2kw range generator. My deep freezer uses around 100w as does my fridge when running. Surge wattage will be 2-3x that but as long as they don't come on at the same time you should be good.
The one caveat is the fridge when it does a defrost. Mine uses resistance heat and that draws 1200w but no surge with that load.

Pay an electrician to install a "generator switch" plug for your house that you flip on/off through the breaker panel and then buy a lager and cheaper regular generator that can power the whole home (depending on how many AC units and sizes etc). We have a 7800 watt firman and it powers the whole home and the central AC. .

I have a Honda 2000i inverter.
I can run a Freezer, refrigerator, TV, Computer, couple small fans
At night I unplug the freezer, turn off TV and fans, and I can run a small 110V window unit in my bedroom while still running Fridge and computer. 8 hours offline has no affect on the freezer or the frozen food, Plug it in when you get up
Depending on the load the unit will run 8 hours on 1 gallon of gas, very quiet.

I've heard nothing but good things about Harbor Freight's Predator generators. I'm about to buy the 2000W to run my travel trailer.

Just get a YETI and you won't have to run your freezer.
