We’re going to try and brave the cold tonight. Any advice on the best place to park and watch the parade with kids?

Somewhere in Southdowns would be a good start.

Just park at a shopping center between College and Acadian, cross over Perkins into the neighborhood, then walk to the parade. All of those streets lead to the parade route.

Here's the route. I would come from Stanford in the 'backdoor' on South Lakeshore and try and park on Stephens or Aberdeen just south of where it goes along Whitehaven for a block.
Gmaps view of where I'm suggesting you try and park.

This parade always makes me scared as hell driving home that I'm going to hit someone. Always tons of families with kids walking in the middle of Lee Drive.

Consider parking at one of the businesses on Perkins near Glasgow. You can catch the front end of the parade by Arrowhead and be able to head home early.
