This for sure. Felt like everyone in the country was watching and knew when it happened, then afterwards, it completely disappeared from the public consciousness - "Yeah, yeah, we saw the million. We're done with this now." Then they put Meredith Viera on as host and, well...

But the Ken Jennings run was something else. It captivated people. I wonder if the early OT had a thread for that. It would have been awesome to have a 74 game long Ken Jennings in game thread.
They used to talk about Ken all the time on Pardon the Interruption.

But what happened is that he and his wife were loyal watchers of the show, and the entire showcase had been given away. She had notes and had their exact prices from previous shows in the last 30 days.
So the trick was that they new what the prices were? That's the fricking game

I think the quote was "I'd have to say in the butt, Bob"

When the guy on the Newlywed Game was asked to state the strangest place he and his new wife ever "made whoopie" and he said "In the butt Bob". His wife almost fainted....

There's a documentary on Hulu about this and it's actually a little stranger than that. The guy that actually knew the bid amount was sitting next to that guy's wife and gave it to her. He was a TPIR superfan and had been to several dozen tapings. He kept a giant database of all the prizes and their prices that were given away for years and practiced memorizing them all. There's evidence of him on prior shows getting bid prices exactly right. The guy that actually won has never given him credit.

Those who downvoted this post are ghey (not that there is anything wrong with that) or are too young to know what this was. I think you picked a winner.

One of the funnier moments occurred on the original Family Feud with Richard Dawson.
During Fast Money, Richard asked the question "During which month of pregnancy does a woman begin to look pregnant?" and the woman contestant said "September". It took Richard the better part of 3 minutes to get himself together...
Worth the watch. Will definitely make you laugh

The discovery of Marie Winn’s notebook which contained answers for questions on “Dotto.” That led to people believing Herb Stempel, quiz shows were cancelled paving the way for more Westerns to be aired on TV, and prize caps were put into place for game shows.

Chuck said the J in her name stood for juicey, and he called her Juice, so you can imagine what the P stood for.

Idk but check out Vannah White’s game show debut. She was a looker. LINK
But more importantly, I like the price that won the first round.

The 1st Survivor finale. It was the forefront of the "reality TV" genre (If not the start of it) and is still going strong to this day. FWIW, that bitch went in dry on the gay guy. To his credit, he handled it well. Exprience?
