So I'm in the market for a new cordless drill. I have a DeWalt 9.6v with flattened batteries so I figure I'll try something new.
I'm gravitating toward the Milwaukee because, well it's Milwaukee. But the Ridgid looks good, too.

Considered Porter Cable.

Whatever I buy I'll also be becoming part of the "ecosystem" of that brand and I'd like to get a cordless wet/dry vac at some point.

What say you?

Big names are roughly the same. Ridgid is cheaper and has a nice warranty.

Don't think too much into it. It's your basic Ford, Chevy debate.

Milwaukee is the best of the group, their battery technology is better than all of their competitors at the moment. Rigids are great though if your just knocking around doing projects and will last just fine. Bosch is probably good but their selection and battery availability is lacking.

I have the Dewalt hammer drill and impact driver. I also bought the Ridgid impact and drill combo set.

The Dewalt has more power without hesitation. Also had an issue with the Ridgid battery charger soon after purchase. Didn't have time to wait for the factory to warranty it, and they only have a $80 charger multi battery charger for sale. I was hoping to find a $20 single charger like what came with the unit.

My corded tools are ridgid. Have no issues with those.

We use the Milwaukee M18 kit on the job site also and it makes life easier with a couple of the smaller tools, but I don't think the drills are on par with the Dewalt tools.

If you are a carpenter working 6 days a week you should get Dewalt or Makitta.

If you are an average joe building a back deck and working on small projects a few times a year Rigid will do everything you need.

Been in the construction business for 22 years.

We have about 18 cordless drills in use on any given day.

Have tried all the major brands and we always end up back with Dewalt. They really are the best when it comes to the abuse we put that shite through.

I have a Porter Cable 20 that I like more than my Milwaukee 24. Battery seems to be better but could be my imagination, IDK. Just prefer the PC. A friend has a lot of Makita items and complains about battery wear.

I guess I'm the lone Bosch guy.

I have a bunch of their tools.

I have a 9.6vlt drill driver and impact driver that are both ~ 11 years old and still going very strong. Never replaced a battery.

They have been bullet proof and I'm sold on the brand.

Dewalt has a $99 brushless 20V compact drill/driver at Home Depot/Lowes that comes with 2 lithium batteries and a charger. Hard to beat that price and it's been quality for the few months I've had it for typical around the house stuff.

I bought my first cordless, a Bosch 18V Driver Drill, in late 2005 for post-Katrina work.

It finally died a couple months ago.
