I'm amazed at how bad the distribution center is; I am tracking a package on Informed Delivery.
Here's a copy of the transit:
fricking Trenton New Jersey?
For the record, this is the second time I've had something make it to Baton Rouge, only to go cross country again, before finally getting delivered.
How the frick do you mess this up so badly? It was supposed to be delivered on the 12th.
Here's a copy of the transit:

This happens all the time.
FedEx packages routinely go to New Orleans then Memphis then Baton Rouge.

USPS is terrible with packages. I think FedEx is the best of the major carriers, but sometimes they lay an egg. We’re also in holiday season, so I would start mailing soon and pony up for express to at least get a refund guarantee.

That’s actually normal. Depending the service you selected, likely express, Memphis is the regional hub.
ETA: I worked in shipping and had to deal with FedEx everyday. I picked up on some things.

I had an important package that was supposed to be delivered yesterday. They pushed it to 9pm, then said it will be delivered today. I get a text around lunch today saying my package was delivered and left by the front door. I was home the entire day, no package was ever left by my door. Guess I will waste tomorrow trying to track it down and get the run around.

It’s okay. I had my psvr2 magically have a new shipping label printed at the BR distribution center and was delivered to a house in north Baton Rouge.
Filed a complaint about the obvious theft. Never heard back

Man, I had something go to Port Allen, then to Memphis, then to Jackson, Mississippi, then to Donaldsonville then to me.
These people are clowns.

You in prairieville? I'm in south BTR and nothing has gone through Nola for me. Usually Holly Springs, MS or maybe Katy then BTR.

And is UPS the Canes or Chic-Fil-A of the shipping world with its six figure drivers and brown shorts?

Around 1990 if you mailed a UPS from Alexandria, Natchitoches, or Shreveport I think and it was next day air the next scanned stop was probably Nola. That was the UPS plane route.

This is the second time since I signed up for Informed Delivery that something has made it here, my Informed Delivery initially saying it should be delivered on that date, and instead it goes for a ride. That's been maybe 3 months. I will NEVER not pay for insurance on shipping again, after watching this.
I've had UPS drop things at the wrong address, usually a neighbor's house. I had something recently left with "proof of delivery" photo showing it on my neighbor's porch, under his security camera. I printed out my delivery stuff and held that to the camera, just to prove I wasn't being a porch pirate.
Maybe the best messed up drop-off was Fedex, they left it at the other neighbor's house. And that dude had died, the bank took his house, and there were several notices of a Sheriff's Sale posted on the house. The Fedex dude left it under one of those notices, it was in the picture.

I got on the phone complaining about that one, since I have my address in big text on my mailbox, and the front of the house visible from the street.

Not in my experience.

They’re having a hard time finding reliable drivers. Turnover is high. Sometimes they have to do what’s most efficient for the majority and sort out the stragglers along the way.

This is correct. Almost all packages sent through FedEx go through Memphis, even if the destination is in the same city. That is their process.
I used to work in shipping
UPS is a gigantic pain in the arse with their automated system... it could take months to figure out what is going on, and where a package is located.. frick brown...at least with FedEx you can talk to a human

The UPS reps were always too stuck up to help us. They would give us some PC corporate answer and move along.
We had a FedEx who was a fricking rockstar. He several times personally went to the local hub, opened up trailers and found our hard deadline packages for important clients.

Could you give me the tracking number so I can try to view the packaging and address label? I am a career Postal worker in Tennessee. I can give you a better answer once I dig into a few different reports. Apologies for your delay. I see this occur a few times a year in my Post Office. Generally speaking, 90% of the delays I see are automated sortation errors that route the packages incorrectly. The other causes usually have to do with addressing or label issues.
