Can you use one of those slip on rubber pipe fittings on a sewer line?

Have to splice a 4" pvc sewer pipe that broke. I don't have room to use the regular fittings to join the 3 pieces of pipe.

I opened this thread cautiously thinking the title was some kind of euphemism.

That's the ones I was talking about. Thanks

Yes
A sewer line is not pressurized so any good rubber boot and hose connector is good.

Sure you can. I'm not a plumber, but I stayed at a holiday inn last night. Proceed at your own risk.

Yes that's what they are made for. Fernco's are extremely dependable and made for long term use

yes...I wouldn't use it on any pressurized pipes but sewer should be fine.

Will work fine.
After you put the fernco on take your hose and allow water to run through the trap to make sure it is a good seal and not leaking. In a few years you will most likely have a good amount of roots enter your fernco and cause a blockage, so keep a mental not where you installed the fernco.

But, be careful that it's not near any type of root system (trees, bushes, etc). A tiny root can grow between the pipe and boot, which will lead to a clogged system. This happened to me about a year ago.

Is this still in your house, or out in the yard? I've used those rubber fittings inside, but I'm not sure I would trust them out buried in the yard.
