Best cars:

Cadillac CT4 Blackwing
Cadillac CT5 Blackwing
Corvette Stingray/E-Ray
Honda Accord
Honda Civic
Lucid Air
Mercedes E450
Porsche 718
Subaru BRZ/Toyora GR86
Tesla Model 3 Long Range

Best crossovers/SUVs/Trucks

Chevrolet Trax
Ford Maverick
Ford Ranger Raptor
Genesis GV70
Honda CRV
Hyundai Ionic 5 N
Kia Telluride
Porsche Macan
Ram 1500
Volkswagen ID Buzz

Interesting takeaways:
- GM is taking home a lot of trophies but it’s for higher end performance cars (except for the Trax, which is a very good entry level vehicle).
- Ford has 2 pickups on the list, but the Ram 1500 was the best full sized truck
- Honda’s Accord and Civic are still the ones to beat in the mainstream sedan segments. The Civic is super impressive.
- Mercedes figured out how to build a mid sized sedan again.
- Tesla and Lucid each took home a trophy

No Toyota is certainly surprising

The improvements made to the Civic over the years have been amazing

It's interesting that these rankings came out right after the reliability rankings, which showed Cadillac as one of the worst cars as far as reliability. Tesla was also kind of low on those rankings.

Toyota is conspicuously absent. I drive a lot of rental cars, and the Toyotas I have driven have always been among the most comfortable, functional and enjoyable to drive. Buick and Volkswagen were among the worst experiences ( just one man's opinion).

Bought a 2024 Trax as my daily commute vehicle and I couldn't be happier with that decision. Got it for under $24K off the lot. It's getting 29 mpg and the heated seats/steering wheel have been money the past couple of mornings for sure.

Cadillac is mid-pack for 2024 per JD Power.

I was gonna postpaid pic of the chart, but postinages.org is now flagged for phishing.

The Cadillacs with the Corvette motors are amazing. They are consistently acclaimed by the critics.

They finally beat BMW in the sports sedan game just as consumers move on to SUVs.

Their home grown sports car is on the list. The Supra, which is a BMW product, is not.

Honda also tends to offer more engaging driving experience and similar reliability and price. The Civic has always been more fun to drive than similar Corollas. So Honda is going to do a little better with auto enthusiasts in the lane where Toyota competes. Toyota has no real Corvette, Maverick, or 718 competitor. And their new Tacoma is kind of lame.

Most of C&D reviewers are former engineers too, so they are going to gravitate towards the design efficiency of Honda over Toyota or Mazda anyways.

Car and Driver doesn't include reliability into their testing. It's all about how it drives.

BMW 5 Series pre 2024 is still the gold standard.

Now, BMW made it a fat tub.

Likely so, but I've not seen anything putting Cadillac at the bottom of any reliability list.
The drivetrains are pretty bulletproof.

Cadillac makes amazing sports sedans. Look up literally any review on the CT5-V Blackwing, it is pretty much universally hailed as an all-time great.

The GMC with the 6.2 is best in class.

No afm, super reliable, powerful, and close to the MPG of the 5.3.

We got my Son-in-law a F150 for work last year and it's been solid, no issues. 5.0.

The Civic is. Money for the young driver.
I love that GV70. I might buy one this year.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the new compact SUV from Acura -the ADX.

I'm in the market for a new pickup, I have an F-150 that's only a couple of years old but have already had to replace the entire rear axle twice, warrantied thankfully, but I can't trust it anymore, I always had Ford pickups, with a couple of exceptions, but I'm thinking of looking at the GMC, good looking and 0% financing right now
