They all only want to accept cards is to slow down the theft of them pocketing the cash and/or because their employees cant count money.

Is this going to increase sales enough to offset the slower sales processing time? I'd be interested in seeing any data on this and if there are actual benefits.

Who knows, which is why I used the word "if".

I do know there were a ton of complaints the first year Cajun Field went to all cash at football games. However, like someone further up pointed out, that's something that should easily be resolved in a contract between the university and whomever they outsource the concessions management to.

The fact something like this apparently NEEDED to be legislated via a bill during session seems a bit peculiar. But hey, Governor Landry gets to show he did something!

Id argue that cash sales have a slower sales processing time than card.

LSU went fully cashless during COVID, which I suspect is the root of why Landry thinks this is a big issue.

Next law will be the Ten Commandments and In God We Trust will be required to be visible on all hot dog, hamburger and nacho wrappers.

Was this honestly an issue?

Yes, credit card companies and banks have been slowly but surely updating terms of service to remove items they don't like.

It's dumb to use LSU as an example, but a cashless society has massive issues with using banks as defacto 4th amendment end arounds.

I know the card companies and banks have been doing this, but then wouldn't the answer be for the vendor to push back and encourage more cash sales?

LINK

Link is to the latest law in Cali that has credit card companies tracking firearm purchases. Again, he's an idiot for using LSU as an example, but a cashless society is terrifying when you consider the government already uses corporations to end around the constitution.

agreed, which is why i'd be interested in seeing if this is actually a positive or they just went normal La and passed something to make things worse but get a solid virtue signal.

Leave it to Louisiana to codify into law maintaining the old way of doing things.

Bet the advocates of this make noises about “small government” and “free market” too.

Look at the fees you paid this year by using your dc or cc at local and even non local establishments.

Great. The cashless concessions is about the only thing LSU has done to make the concessions more efficient.

Who is the target for this pandering?

Yep.

That’s how the free market works.

Which everyone who supports this bill is apparently against.

Older people who probably listen to Dave Ramsey and have a stadium concession cash envelope.
