For a minute I thought that was the dam holding Douglas Lake back. That would have been epic.

That dam failure and that pic have nothing to do with each other.

The road that’s washed out is I-40 Mile 6 in NC near the TN-NC state line.

The dam issue is further down the river in TN.

How bad is the flooding (if there is any) in the Gatlinburg area?

I've rafted that section of river. You get off the bus on the TN side and can walk about 100 feet to cross the NC state line. The flow is controlled by the Waterville Power Station on the NC side. It's a great trip. I hope it all works out for the folks there.

We've done that trip as well. My kids loved it.

I tried to find info on this but all I could find was rivers were high but no pics of flooding.
