Friends,

Today is one of my favorite days: the Christopher Radko Warehouse Sale. The family in the past has flown or driven to the Metro Charlotte area for this huge event where many items are released for the first time. The sale has not happened since 2019 due to Covid, but this year the company announced quite late that it is happening.

Due to previously planned travel obligations, we are unable to attend. Is there anyone in the Charlotte area who could visit today and share pictures of what is available?

Date: June 30th - July 1st, 2023
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm EST
Location: 3800A Little Mountain Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056

We, and the entire OT, would be grateful if you could help us!

Yours,
TulaneLSU

P.S. Christopher Radko is a great follow on Facebook. He recently posted this beautiful picture his mother gave him as a child. Not sure he what he means by "starchy dogma" -- Americans are foolishly immature about the word dogma. Thanks to some sophomoric movies, dogma has taken on a negative meaning in America, but dogma is a beautiful word and a beautiful thing. It protects us from heresy and foulness. It is good thinking, so I can see why so many are opposed to it.

Baw,

You should do a Top 10 list of Charlotte attractions. Very underrated metro area.

Sincerely,

Im in Mooresville and had to look this up. It appears to be a giant sell of those porcelain things gradmas have on their shelves. sounds like a blast :)

Once upon a Holiday Night, a Christmas tree fell and startled the Radko family household. With more than 1,000 vintage mouth-blown glass ornaments broken to bits, Christopher was distraught. Searching endlessly to replace them, he found nothing quite good enough to replace his treasured memories. He soon realized that the only option was to start from scratch. Thus began the creation of Christopher Radko ornaments.

With nothing but his Christmas memories to build upon, Christopher enlisted a Polish glassblower and went to work recreating his family’s lost heirlooms. The project went so well that by 1985 sixty unique designs were debuted and a respected business was created. Today, after thirty-five years of designing and creating, Christopher Radko® has produced more than eighteen million fine European glass ornaments that have become a part of family traditions across the United States.

Friend,

Have you acquired any ornaments from Christopher Radko’s new line of original ornaments?

quote:

He sold his business to Rauch Industries in 2005.[10] In 2022, he won a legal challenge against Rauch Industries to use his name for his new line of original ornaments.[11] He originally signed a non-competition agreement with Rauch that expired as of August 15, 2021, but the company filed a motion to prohibit Radko from using his name in association with his new company.[11]

Does Radko make a Dale Earnhardt ornament or figurine? Anniversary is coming up and I’m not sure if my wife has ever forgiven me for that fateful day when I broke the family heirloom #3 ornament.

Friends,

James1111, I am quite torn on whether I am loyal to the person Christopher Radko or the brand Christopher Radko. As of today, I have not purchased any Heartfully Yours ornaments, the new company started by Radko last year. Resale prices of last year's Heartfully Yours ornaments are significantly higher than last year's Radko ornaments. I think we are seeing how loyal Radkolians are to the founder more than the brand. Many of the HY ornaments are now signed by Radko, so that certainly will put a premium on that line.

We have seen this sort of thing happen before, haven't we? I remember when Patsy Grimaldi sold his pizzeria to Frank Ciolli in 1998. Patsy disappeared from the Brooklyn pizza scene, but in 2011 he decided to open up next door to the original Grimaldi's, naming his pizzeria Juliana's. I prefer Juliana's to Grimaldi's at the Brooklyn Bridge. However, the Grimaldi's in Destin is better than both of them, and I would argue the best national pizza chain in America. And we saw it with the now deceased Andrew Bellucci, America's most important pizzaiolo, who left Bellucci's Pizza after he had a dispute with its owner to open a few blocks away Bellucci's Pizzeria, which became Andrew Bellucci's after a lawsuit.

Anyway, I did not like how Radko ornaments started putting political and cultural war elements into a few limited edition items this year. Moreover, the last five years has seen Radko start cheap, made in China lines, which was highly disappointed to the company's faithful. For those reasons, I may become resident in the Heartfully Yours camp. Time will tell. The only thing holding me back at this time is the name of the company. Heartfully Yours is not magical to me like Christopher Radko. But as I go through heARTfully Yours 2022 retired catalogue perhaps my transfer will happen sooner than latter. Did you see that Oh, Holy Night finial?! The master is still on top of the game. Such a beautiful piece.

VolsOut, next time I am in Charlotte, I will have my camera and mind's notebook open.

geauxdrips, you are very badly mistaken. Radko ornaments are not figurines nor are they porcelain like Lladro pieces. Original Radkos are hand blown glass Christmas ornaments, the type of ornament the truly refined put on their Christmas trees. If you are satisfied with a bland, generic, uninteresting tree filled with made in China trash that has no meaning or lasting value, you might not know what a Radko is. But those on the OT, at least most of us, are well aware of Radko ornaments.

Please refer to TulaneLSU's 2019 Christmas Pilgrimage I: Top 10 Christopher Radko Ornaments should you need photographic information or help on this matter.

jaytothen, I have collected Radko ornaments from the beginning. antiquetiger is not a Radko collector, but I know that he will buy a Radko for me if he finds one at his sales.

madam, such a shame you did not have time. It would have been great if you had been able to make it there and share with us this year's offering. May God bless your travels with safety and health, making it a didactic adventure whatever befalls.

eightball, to my knowledge Radko has never done a Dale Earnhardt piece. I would not expect one either.

WhoDat, you are really missing out. These are some of the finest Christmas ornaments in the world, the type of ornament that will take you back to your childhood and have you remembering the feeling of a seven year old running to Santa's gifts on Christmas morning.

Heartfully Yours,
TulaneLSU
