Kinda agree. But they have fricked themselves. Kept service bad, but jacked prices.
You can overcome 1, but not both of those. They ran off loyal customers and caused them to try others chains....never to return
A shame. Popeyes can be great with good management. I worked at one in high school that won their silver star award and this was with 90% high school students as staff. Believe me, we had some knuckle heads that worked there, but management kept the shenanigans in check. This was also 25 years ago.
And it's always 2 of the big three: speed, quality, price. You have to nail 2 of those if you want customers to accept taking a hit on the last one.

Bring back the Tejas Grill sandwich please. Until then Chili's means nothing to me.

I ate at the original Chili's in Dallas on Greenville Ave the first week that it opened and every week after that for years.
It was awesome food and a great meeting place.

I was a kitchen manager at Chili’s for a couple of years when I was at UGA in the early 90s. I ate more damn crispers while on shifts than you could imagine. And back in those early days , we had a burger called the Rojo Burger. It had a tangy red hickory sauce that was my favorite. They removed it from the menu around 95. Bad move IMO.

Big Smasher Burger is really good
The thing that I like about my location is that our drinks never reach empty without being asked if we would like a refill or another, why all restaurants don't enforce this is baffling.

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s the Chili’s off College Dr and Constitution in Baton Rouge would have an hour long wait on Friday and Saturday evenings.
It was really a hopping place. Good times and great memories.
I believe it was one of the busiest in the country at one point.

Wow I didn’t know this. Do you remember the exact year that you heard that?

The regional manager was there one day and told me that before the seigen location was built, that the chilis on constitution was the number one chilis in the nation
I feel like I heard that a lot about the local chains growing up, lol.
Because the wait was always so long, used to hear that the Outback in Metairie at Vets/Severn was the #1 Outback in the country.

I think I started working there in 98. Seigen was already open and some of the corporate managers were doing some kind of “audit”. One of the younger managers came out with us after work and was talking about how far our sales had fallen percentage wise and that triggered corporate to take a closer look at the store. He said no one was getting fired bc we were still in the top 25% of stores but we used to be number one. He said they were looking at how adding chilis within a certain distance affected high performance locations.
Also the GM had plaques on the wall of his office that said #1 in sales. We routinely had an hour+ waits on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights and the old-timers said it used to be like that every night before seigen opened.
Another thing I just remembered was when I was waiting to move up to bartender, we had a guy graduate in engineering but stayed at chilis to bartend for another year to save more money to buy a house before he started his career.

If you're talking about the one at Four Points... it has been out of business for over a year now.

And now Siegen is gone too. Shame.

Lol so they did what a lot of chains were already doing?
Simplify the menu and get better ingredients.

I wish they’d bring back the old recipe for their chicken crispers. Those things were fantastic.
Yea I’m not sure what advice he’s getting but it definitely noticeable. The ones I had recently are not nearly as good

When made well, they were the best, but the newer version is more consistent at least. A bad tempura Crisper is hard to take down.
