This question is for oilfield hands and guys or gals required to wear safety glasses on a regular basis.

Have you ever had any issues with safety men, etc. telling you that you can’t wear Costas because they don’t have the ANSI stamp on the inside of the arm? Costa 580P lenses (not sure about you the other lens types) meet both ANSI Z80.3 and Z87.1 regulations but they don’t stamp it on the frame for some reason.

I’ve got a pair of WileyX that do have the stamp on the frame, but I’m in the market for a new pair and I don’t really care for WileyX and would much prefer Costa.

ETA: Why the downvotes and hate on this post? I asked a simple question, didn’t say anything that’s untrue, and it’s a conversation worth having as to why the lenses are approved but the glasses are not?

No stamp, no ANSI approval. It might meet the standard, but isnt approved if it isnt stamped.

Unless it is stamped then they are not considered ANSI z87.1 and most safety guys will say something.

Dropped a pair of harpoons and one lens shattered, might not be ANSI approved.

Costas information says that the 580P do meet the ANSI standards but I guess maybe the frames don’t meet the standard, hence why they don’t stamp the frames?

Yes, I’m well aware, hence why I’ve worn WileyX for years now.

Being that you’re an a-hole safety man (just breaking your balls) are you aware of any other brands that are stamped on the frame?

Nah bud, I’ll be working my way up from the bottom as a deckhand.

You have deckhands, pilots, and captains. Both pilots and captains drive the boat. If I do well I’m looking at about 3 years to pilot, 5 to captain.

An AMA for an oilfield safety man? Sounds pretty boring IMO.

Not hating, just saying it’s pretty mundane until shite hits the fan. Now telling stories about when shite DID hit the fan would he entertain for sure.

Do you have any suggestions for ANSI certified sunglasses? That’s kinda why I started the thread to begin with.

Oakley has a couple ANSI rated glasses.

Also, Costa was recently bought out/ merged with Luxottica. Quality and service is about to take a nosedive. That great Costa warranty is out the window.

All good brotha...it is mundane, but have some stories over last 20.

But to be honest hand, id tell u go with the cheap shite and save your money for some costas.

Edit: for the boat of course
