Country bar in Elmwood in 90s

I vividly remember Mustang Sally's on Williams. However, there was a similar place in Elmwood by the furniture stores under the elevated train tracks. Does anyone remember this place and can remember the name?

You talking about Pure Country where the raves happened?

Hired Hand Saloon, I think Harry Lee was part owner.

MudBugs was "The Place" for awhile there.
Hell, the dance floor was so big you wouldn't make around once before the song ended.

The Hired Hand Saloon is exactly right. That was the place where my future second wife and I had our first adult date after dating for 2 months in 1982. We were married for 40 years and she many times said she fell in love with me while we were dancing to Ann Murry singing "Can I have this dance".
As a helicopter pilot flying for PHI that was the best thing that ever happened to me was meeting my second wife and that dance.

It was The Hired Hand Saloon. I started flying for PHI in 1980 and drove past it once every week on Wed going to my base when I flew out of Grand Isle and a week later driving home. I wanted to go in but didn't have the time to stop. That changed in 1982 when I asked for a divorce and met the lady who would become my 40 year partner, love of my life, and wife. After dates that included her children for a couple months she wanted an adult, so we want to the Hired Hand. An amazing place! There were three level with bars and food. About 10 bars on the main floor, with a dance floor that would hold a Marine Battalion at lest. With about 5 bars on the second level and 2 on the third level.
She told me years later that she fell in love with me while we were dancing to Ann Murray singing "Could I Have This Dance." Carolyn taught me the meaning of True Love. Spiritual Love mixed with Physical Passion. Forty years and it really started there.
