I think she lied about the amount honestly. She probably had $300 but knew she could make $2,700

Who is going to repay her? Does she have armed robbery insurance? Lost my wallet insurance? Petty theft insurance?

You people are so silly

What possible reason would she have for doing this?

My best guess would be that she carries that much around because she is required to travel at a moments notice,

Excellent point... also, the few times I've ever carried "excessive" cash has been going to or from the bank, sometimes with stops in between. Who knows? Or maybe 3k isn't a lot of cash to her...

No one knows what you have til it gets snatched.

What is the line you draw at carrying an unnecessary amount of cash? Couple hundred? A grand? None?

Thats what you think.

Also easier to pay for information if you carry large amounts of cash.

I wonder if it was a “gonzo” reporter trying to get to her cell phone.

If her cell phone(s) wasn't/weren’t in her purse, where does she keep them?

Where did you get it?

ATM? Teller inside?

Either way someone knows.

If a teller they could have someone on the outside waiting for a text. As soon as someone has a couple of G's, text your homboys with the make model and they follow to wait for you to park.

She can’t even protect her own purse, how is she supposed to protect the homeland?

You made one of my points for me... maybe she was coming from or going to her bank.. in which case, cash on hand isn't "stupid" but is what happens when you're doing some banking. Is she supposed to teleport it?

Having $3k in cash on you as a routine matter is sort of wild.

Not really. I know some older men that keep that (or more) on them. They don’t like to be on the record and like to make deals on the spot.

$3K isnt crazy money if you travel all the time, especially if you can't/ don't want to use your CC for whatever reason.

or has been advised by the Secret Service not to use her personal credit card while out of the country for security reasons.

Considering the animosity toward (R) politicians in DC, I wouldn't be using a credit card with my name on it and signing anything.
Also, the tab for a table for six with drinks at a decent restaurant is going to cost $600+ not including tip - for brunch. Nothing is cheap in DC.

My FIL would carry $1000-$1500 around twenty years ago, and he did "OK" but wasn't wealthy.
