We were in the Dirt Cheap in Wiggins, they came over the loud speaker and said, an entire basket of useless crap for $2, on sale now...

I used to love going to the store in Meridian just to see what kind of crap they’d have

According to Facebook, going-out-of-business sales have started at all Dirt Cheap stores.
Hell, the one near us up and disappeared overnight. I think I went to it once, and it was like a trashier version of Big Lots. Or, maybe like a Big Lots and a Dollar General had a bastard child.

Most of the stuff I've seen at Dirt Cheap should've been in a dumpster.

The one in Lafayette, from Day 1, had zero rhyme or reason as to why something was in any particular aisle or section.. So it was very much like digging thru a 10,000 sq foot dumpster
Reminded me of Goodwill where the employees who sort the stuff would hold back anything actually worth a shite for themselves

In Gulfport, Dirt Cheap has or had a store called Treasure Hunt.
I stopped there not knowing that it was similar to a Dirt Cheap and owned by the same company.
I was thinking real hard about buying something, but in the back of my head I was second guessing the purchase.
My description of both stores remind me of a retailer's rummage sale. They are selling what didn't sell at the store or was returned. No one purchased it when it was on clearance, so lets jack it up to retail and tell people that it is 30-50% off when we paid less than 10 cents on the dollar from the retailer.

I went to the one in Hammond a few years ago. The store was a wreck and you couldn’t get anyone to help you. I left and never went back. I can see why they are bankrupt

Its like two levels below Hudson salvage stores, which I used to really like. They bought a whole sale tackle shops stuff after a fire about 10 years ago and I bought nice sabaki rods for 5 bucks and a custom trout round for 10

Never knew what you'd run into at a Hudson's. Stereo equipment, power tools, all kind of stuff. But the good stuff was what made you think WTF, followed by a "hell yeah."
I loaded up on skin tone gel bra inserts (fake titties) and threw them for parade throws. Delayed reactions of the recipients were amazing.
I found a pair of size 64" waist boxer shorts for just about nothing. It's our annual white elephant Christmas party gift. And when I say annual, you're damn right I steal them back for next year.
Yeah, I'm just enough of an oddball to appreciate what was Hudson's.

I heard Big Lots is declaring BK as well.
Pretty sure that entire business model has run its course.

About a year ago my aunt swung by a Dirt cheap and bought a buggy with Halloween decorations in it. The buggy was $10. She went out to the parking lot and began sifting through this buggy as most of it was junk. She had a friend with her that also frequented Dirt cheap and as they emptied the buggy they came across a slender white box still in its original packaging. My Aunt had no idea what it was, but her friend became very excited. It was a brand new 45mm apple watch se.
