But you have the time/patience to call every "pop" ever invented a "pop"? How long does it take you to say "coke"?

From my experience, if someone's ordering a coke/pop in a retaurant, they'll specify what kind without caying "coke" first. But someone might say "I'm giving up cokes" or "do you have any cokes" referring to all types of coke/pop.

That's how I've noticed it.

No we call Coke, Coke...

If we go to the store and say, "Im going to get some pop, what kind do you want" - This would mean: Pepsi, Sprite, Coke, etc.

If we go to the store and say, "Im going to get some Coke, what kind do you want" - This would mean: Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, Regular Coke, etc.

My little cousin calls ants "buggies" ...certainly not carts that you put your groceries in.

So HYPOTHETICALLY: If you were at the grocery store and a bumblebee (buggy) was flying around your face and simultaneaously a shopping cart (buggy) was rolling down a hill getting ready to strike your foot...and a little kid gave a warning call,

"WATCH OUT FOR THAT BUGGY!"

Would you A) swipe the bug from your face or B) move your foot away from the shopping cart?

Since they are both buggies how could you decide?
