Get the organic Horizon brand. That shite lasts like 2 months. I had no idea until my wife bought it one day and I saw that the date was 2 months down the road.

Milk is pretty much the only organic item I purchase because it seems to last so much longer compared to other milk.

If I'm at the store and milk is on the list, I'm getting the Horizon just for this reason.

Your refrigerator is not cold enough. Also, the higher the fat content in your milk, the longer it will keep before spoiling. Look it up. For some reason, the fat in milk inhibits the growth of certain bacteria. Also baws, stop drinking straight out the milk container. You are introducing bacteria into the container every time you put your mouth on the container spout.

The local DG just outside the subdivision is great with their milk products. We regularly have their milk and eggs literally still fresh after 10 post expiration. Being like 3 minutes from checkout to home fridge definitely helps in the 100 degree summer heat.

Even the stuff from WM delivery lately has kept a few days beyond expiration.

OP: once the milk turns slightly add some acid to it to change it into buttermilk and preserve it a few more days. A teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon/lime juice will do for a half gallon.

This right here...much, much, much longer. Better for those who don't drink as much milk as they should.

Yep. Not sure what they do to it in order to make it last longer, but it does.

Yes. No matter where I buy it. Interestingly, though, when I was a Costco member, their milk went beyond the date. Keeping it in back of fridge vs front or door where warm air hits and not taking a swig from container can help. The latter introduces bacteria into the container and speeds it up going bad.

Lately it seems like almost any time we let the Milk get within a day or two of the date that crap has already gone sour.

The milk temperature has gotten too high (your refrigerator, at the store or in transit) and/or the plant did not ensure the inside of the container was adequately sanitized before filling with milk.

It lasts a long time because it is ultra-pasteurized, not because it is organic.

The Horizon brand has gotten very expensive. I started buying the Kroger store brand of ultra-pasteurized milk, and it lasts just as long but for about $2 a carton cheaper.

Same. Love that it lasts as long as it does. Never have a container that we don’t drink the whole thing because of it.

same here. we get ours from Costco, usually 2 gallons at a time. Our kids will go through the first gallon and usually by the time we pull the seal on the second, it's really close to the date. That shite will still last another week.

I think it's definitely related to when you open it.
