Does anybody remember the yoyo phase of the 90s or am I misremembering?

I feel like 1995-1997 all the kids had these souped up ball bearing yoyos. I wasn't able to get one, "they were expensive", but they lit up and crap.

No, I'm not high and I didn't even mildly google. This is pure toilet sitting nostalgia stream of consciousness.

Yes, I recall having a couple of yo-yos in the 90s.

Fireball and “the Brain” were the two biggest yo-yos, definitely late 90s at least in Baton Rouge.

They were stocked in every color in every store in the mall. I remember people lubing up their bearings at recess and after school…also trading sides so you’d each have a multi color Fireball

It was the 70s for me. We even had competitions with judges. Rocking The Baby, Sleeper, Walking The Dog, Around The World, etc. Those were the Good Old Days.

Pogs, yoyo’s, gak, all sorts of fun times were had. Now I just spend my time getting mad about the news when I’m not jerking off.

Nope. I was there. If you had one of the premium yo-yos (Yomega) you were on top of the world. I believe they were maybe $16.

Yeah I had a couple different ones. A fireball and a bumblebee. I remember having someone come to my elementary to show us yo-yo tricks

Pogs were the best.

My kid asked for a yo-yo the other day. Wonder if they are making a comeback. I said no because he's 6 and I do not feel like dealing with that. He can have one when he's older.

I remember hackysacks and spinners. Both of which I trained my Rotweillers to steal and destroy.

Yoyos were definitely 80s as another poster said.

Got my 6YO a yo-yo for Christmas. It got knotted up the first time he tried it.

Throw the Brain down and it'd stay there and spin. 10-11 yr old me thought that was the epitome of technology.

POGS
Tamagotchi
Yo-yos
Pokémon cards
Hackey sacks
Yugioh/Magic cards

That’s the order I remember for “fads” as 1996-2003 elementary schooler…I feel like all ended up getting banned at some point which led to the next thing

I don’t know that I could pin it down to a three year period, but that sounds about right. Pogs and yo yos were massive fads when I was in or about middle school.

Eta: damn, yeah, and hacky sacks.
