Isn't the water in Metry pretty soft to begin with? I know they add lime to the water to prevent corrosion, but I've never had any South LA water that has been noticeably hard like in SE Texas or San Antonio.

Been using a filtered shower head for about 30 years now.
Whether municipal or public, most water quality is abysmal and chock full of contaminants and chemicals. That's before they start "fortifying" it with Fluoride, Chlorine, and God knows what else.
So many.
You'll have to use less water because your detergents and soaps will foam much better; Your skin (body's largest organ) and Pineal Gland won't be absorbing damaging Fluoride, Chlorine, PCBs, gasoline residue and bacteria -- that is IF your filter media is either KDF or ceramic (drinking water.) And you won't be inhaling damaging steam with the same particulate crap into your lungs from hot showers.
It's a no-brainer to get the best you can afford, along with obviously filtering your H2O.

I took a pair of needle-nose pliers and ripped out that plastic water-flow restrictor doohickey POS, so I guess I get even more dangerous water now.
