Take care of it. I found out I had the same thing after I ended up in the hospital with a PE. It ain't no joke.

know what your problem is, because I am on the Eliquis as well. The $10 copay requires that you get a 30-day supply at a time….90-day and they don’t honor the $10 copay. I don’t know why pharmacies don’t know this, but I have the same problem every 3rd time I refill my script.
I got a 90 day supply for $30 with the coupon thing so it all ended well. I’m shocked Walgreens doesn’t know about that nor BCBS

Known since 2018. I have had who knows how many clots since. It’s to the point where if they are below the knee and descending I don’t bother going in.

Always check out goodrx and mark Cuban’s cost plus drug company to make sure you are getting the best prices.
Insurance companies and drug companies are all crooks

Well, that is great news. It is extremely frustrating to deal with that bullshite. I imagine elderly folks would just pay that and not be able to afford food that month.
ETA: don’t screw around with clots, I had a stroke because of one.

That is kind of the crazy part. If I would have walked in and it was ready I probably would have ran my HSA card and walked out. Only because it wasn't ready did I even look online for the coupon deal. Literally in less than 5 minutes I saved $1,570.
Not a bad hourly program.

Let me explain the way our system works. The one making the money is definitely not the pharmacy. They are going out of business left and right. Big pharma makes a few dollars. The ones getting paid are the insurance companies. Of your $1600, the pharmacy benefit manager or pbm gets roughly a $1200 rebate from big pharma to put it on your formulary. If they don’t pay, your Eliquis comes back not covered. The PBMs are express scrips, Caremark, Aetna, optum and Humana. They only process the prescription but get paid the most. Then to make it even better, the do spread pricing, they send you a cob saying they paid the pharmacy $100 but only paid them $20. They scoop the rest. Don’t forget your insurance premium too. Oh wait, have you ever heard of a prior authorization? They get paid again to make you jump through hoops to get your prescription covered. That’s how the sausage is made. Sound unbelievable and illegal. Ever wonder why drugs out of Canada are 70-80% cheaper?

Sucks that Cuban went insane and disqualified himself from being a rational actor and being involved because he actually seems to be doing good work in this area

People will get angry with this statement....
But, there's a lot of fat in drug companies.
Lots of non scientific people making good $$.
We all agree that smart biologists, chemists, computer scientists, data scientists etc working on drug development and manufacturing should earn well.
But, there's a lot of DEI hires.
Tits McGee's(think big titties sales sluts).
Lots of money wasted on marketing.
Kickbacks to physicians.
Yes, it's technically illegal, but they do "conferences", outings etc.
On and on.
Plus, we subsidize the rest of the worlds cheap prices.
It's a disaster.

I am so pissed in some ways right now.
For the first time in a long time I had to gar a presciprion refilled - Eloquis the blood thinner. I have a genetic mutation that heightens blood clot risks. For the last couple years I’ve been managing it with Bayer but I mentioned it to a woman I’m dating and she convinced me to get back on the actual med.
Anyway I go in to pick it up and it’s not ready the gal behind the counter said they didn’t fill it because when they ran the cost it came to $1600 for a 90 day supply. I almost paid it but the. Started investigating. Go online on my phone and find a manufacturers program for those with insurance and poof $1600 drops to $10.
Now, why in the hell do they try to rip off people and their insurers? I hadn’t met my deductible this year so I’m still paying 100% (HDHP).
I just had to get a refill for my 92 year old mother. She has Medicare Advantage.
This is her first refill. The original 90 day supply cost $150. The refill cost $600. Something about a "donut hole" that I don't completely understand.
My brother is also on it, but he was able to get the same $10 program as you. He looked into it for my mom, but they don't offer it to Medicare patients.

Nor do they offer it for uninsured. Only commercially insured. It’s a little fricked up.

Read most of this thread and it sounds like you’re mad that a prescription costs more for the patient without insurance than it does with insurance. Is that accurate?

Nah, not even really mad. More irritated that they play a pricing/coupon game to the tune of over $1,500 for a prescription.
If I pulled pricing games like that in my industry (I’m regulated by FINRA and the SEC) I’d have both agencies crawling up my arse.
